Surprise! I’m not about talking

I’m speaking on a topic that is deeply personal to me:
Bʀɪɴɢ Yᴏᴜʀ Oᴡɴ Dᴀᴍɴ Cʜᴀɪʀ

In an industry where seats at the table are still limited for women, and too often already spoken for by the men, this talk is my call to stop waiting for permission.

This session is rooted in my own journey as a Latina woman in tech. From teen mom to award-winning, globally recognized artificial intelligence and machine learning technologist, author, and keynote speaker, I know what it feels like to walk into rooms that were not built with you in mind.

I also know this:
You do not have to wait for someone to make space for you.
You can claim it.

This won’t be a feel-good talk with empty inspiration. It is a real conversation about resilience, self-advocacy, and what it takes to keep showing up when you are overlooked, underestimated, or outnumbered. I’ll be sharing hard-earned lessons from more than two decades in technology and leadership, along with a challenge I hope every woman in tech carries with her long after the session ends:

You belong here.
You are ready.
And if there is no seat for you, bring your own damn chair.

Happy Birthday ! Jeana, my love, my eldest, my first “Oh wow, this is real,”
I met motherhood at eighteen
with no manual, no map,
and about twelve dollars of confidence on a good day.

But then there you were.
Tiny. Loud. Certain.
Looking at me like, “Okay Ma, let’s do this.” And baby, we did.

You changed the course of my life so fast
I didn’t just turn the page,
I started a whole new book.

I chose you.
Over the version of me that thought I had to do life in a straight line.
Over the plans that looked good on paper,
but didn’t feel like love in real life. And the wild part is,
I didn’t raise you alone.
We raised each other.

Because while I was teaching you how to walk,
you were teaching me how to stand.
