A Quick Update

This week is full. All calls coming in will be scheduled for the week of the 15th. We will be closed next week as I will be away fishing. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Seeking Recommendations

When I started the business a few years ago, I paid $95/month for biweekly 4yd dumpster service and $120/month for liability insurance. Now my dumpster is $165/month and my liability is $207/month. Does anyone know of better priced places? Dumpster is GFL and liability is Auto Owners. And before anyone says Sam’s I can’t convince him to drive to my place. And IRWS wanted to charge me more than GFL.

Just a little update for y'all. (Insert Texas drawl) The week of June 8th we will be closed. At that time remember to leave a voicemail and expect that I will be returning your calls Monday June 15th.

Also, if anyone from GE appliances or their customers from Texas read this post, I have requested that GE remove my phone number from their service providers in Texas 4 times now. To the customer, I'm sorry for the mix up and inconvenience. To GE, get your p**p in a group.

I’m just going to get ahead of the curve now and send out a preemptive message to make people aware that there is a high probability I will be swamped very soon.

Due to all the flooding, I will likely be even busier than I already am with the return of the snowbirds.😭 You might think, “What would an appliance repairman have to do with flooding?” Well the short answer is, I will likely be called upon to do estimates for the house insurance companies. Usually this results in the replacement of the appliance but it’s still a hoop the customer has to jump through. So I get to jump through it too.

I could be wrong but the last time Rogers Pond backed up with ice jams, I was busy all summer writing estimates all the way from Big Rapids to Evart.

So you are warned now, that when you call for service, the wait time could be ugly in the very near future.

12 mile west of Cedar rd in Osceola county is partially washed out. If you take that road, watch the ditches. It’s getting skinny. Side note, everybody’s ponds are looking great!

Quick Business Update

The snow birds are now in full flight and landing in large flocks around their lake cabins that they nest in for the warm months. This has caused my phone to go bananas and my grey hairs to multiply. As a result, we are currently scheduling new calls for the week of the 27th and beyond.

Adventures in Appliance Repair

Entry 48 “I’m Looking Kind of Lumpy”

This adventure is more of the rare variety. It didn’t happen 15 years ago in a hazy bygone corner of my mind. This occurrence took place about two hours ago. And “Adventure” is likely a stretch of the imagination, but for continuity sake, we will keep the running title.

This morning was a real doozy. I was up particularly early, which caused me to doze off on the couch. After waking around 9:30am, a panic induced purpose was moving my feet as my thumbs blazed to make the necessary calls to get out the door.

In a rush to get out the door and not have any customers with their nose out of joint, I quickly grabbed my shoes, threw on a work shirt and dashed out the door. Barely a half a coffee in me, I blazed down the roads watching with an eagle eye for new wash outs.

My first job was off of 16th street in Lake County. From my house I couldn’t take 11 mile as I usually would, there’s currently a river that found a new way across the road. So down to 9 mile, back west and north on Deer Lake rd.

As I approached the first job, the panic was starting to ebb. I had made it within a reasonable window of time relative to the promised appointment. I turned to enter the driveway and noticed I looked unusually lumpy.

Now, I go by the moniker The Chubby Repairman. So a lumpy appearance isn’t all that noteworthy. But I know my lumps, and I had an extra helping of lumps this morning. Something was protruding on the right side of my stomach.

As I’m putting the van in park, I’m also multitasking, and fishing around inside my work shirt to see what is causing the fabric to be so distressed. Out comes a navy blue something in my hand.

Curiosity now fully in control, I begin to unravel the little ball in my hand. Lo and behold I discover that my wife’s unmentionables are riding shotgun inside my shirt. Clarity returning, I hurriedly stuff the un**es in my cupholder before someone sees me holding woman’s underwear in the air like I’m introducing Simba before the pride lands. Rafiki has nothing on me.
