Do a search online and there are hundreds of articles talking about the threats poses to the recruiting industry.

AI will find, select, interview, and onboard candidates some articles state. Others say that AI will render ATS's useless.

Lets stop with the fear mongering! Recruiting is still a people business! Relationships still matter in the people business!

AI is changing the industry for sure - but it wont replace recruiters. Its will be the recruiters who leverage AI that will replace recruiters.

Artificial Intelligence can improve the candidate sourcing experience, increase recruiter efficiency, and improve the candidate experience - when used correctly.

When writing job descriptions and selecting candidates to interview, why do we put so much focus on “years of experience”?

This crazy requirement has never made any sense in candidate selection. What are you looking to determine they have learned in those years of experience? Do you even know the answer to that question?

Relying on years of experience is an easy way to hide the fact that we don’t know the specific abilities or knowledge a candidate has to have. What are you assuming they have learned as a result of “x” years of experience? What do you assume they know based on “x” years of experience?

Relying on years of experience assumes that all candidates learn at the same pace - not only is this not true, but could exclude the high performers who could run circles around their counterparts that have more “years of experience”.

Why do we still rely on this out of date measure of a candidate??

I get that it effect internal compensation equity - that’s an entirely different discussion. Should comp be based on years of experience or on results?
