Today we celebrate gratitude and redemption.

We can thank formerly enslaved people for this day: Decoration Day, began as a celebration of the union victory over the confederacy. Our nation’s most costly war in human lives, Decoration Day, evolved into Memorial Day.

Congratulations to Hawaii in a victory over unlimited corporate spending/ meddling in our democracy.

Happy First of May! The circus industry is 8 years older than the USA.

May 1st was the traditional start to the season when wagons (before trains) would head off to bring joy, distraction and wonder across the land, all fueled by concessions

When someone says “trust me” I usually doubt.

Once Ahmadge had successfully crossed back and forth on the basketball ball court, his next trick… walking over me. You can see his hesitation, yet we demonstrated trust/circus for the entire class.

Circus = mitigating risk for tangible rewards

Ahmadge is a 5th Grader at Sixth District in .

I spent Easter in Las Vegas with former student and professional artist . We shared countless memories over dinner with his family at his home. Cornell started circus the Unity Circus Project in Las Vegas!

Thanks to Covington Schools and The R.C. Durr Foundation for providing circus for the 4th & 5th graders at Sixth District.

Ten years ago today with the tremendously talented at the Opening Day.

Cornell was a student 20+ years ago, and now he performs globally on cruise ships, in circuses and regularly in halftime shows!

Cornell is based in Las Vegas where he owns his home and provides for his wife and daughter via the circus!
