It is with great sadness that we share the news that Pete Silva, former Director of Fire Service Education and Training for the Wisconsin Technical College System, passed away yesterday afternoon.

Pete dedicated much of his life to the fire service, serving not only as a firefighter but also as a mentor, educator, and champion for firefighter training throughout Wisconsin. His commitment to developing firefighters and strengthening fire service education has had a lasting impact on countless individuals, departments, and communities across our state.

The legacy Pete leaves behind extends far beyond his years of service. It lives through the firefighters he helped train, the programs he helped build, and the many lives that have been positively influenced by his leadership and dedication. His contributions to the Wisconsin fire service community will continue to be felt for generations to come.

Pete was not just a great Firefighter, he was a great man. Please keep Pete's family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him in your thoughts during this difficult time.

The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) recently honored Dennis Myers of Western Technical College during a Western Technical College Advisory Committee meeting for his dedication and leadership as committee chair for the Hazardous Materials and Fire Inspector curriculum updates.

Through countless hours of leadership, mentorship, and collaboration, Dennis helped guide these important statewide initiatives, ensuring Wisconsin's fire service training and certification programs continue to meet national standards and the evolving needs of the fire service.

In accepting the recognition, Dennis emphasized that these accomplishments would not have been possible without the dedication and expertise of the many committee members who contributed their time and knowledge throughout the process as well.
