It is with much excitement that we announce Dr. Cecilia Hillard, Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at MCW, has been named the 2024 recipient of the Hector F. DeLuca Scientific Achievement Award from BioForward Wisconsin!

Dr. Hillard was selected for her immense body of work, including her founding of the Neuroscience Research Institute, a vast number of peer-reviewed papers, and her ranking by Stanford University as among the top 2% of research scientists in the world.

The Hector F. DeLuca Scientific Achievement Award recognizes exceptional scientists working in in the fields of biohealth and life science, as well as those advancing innovation in the specialties.

Keeping Wisconsin moving (Bio)Forward with the passage of AB 916 by both the Assembly and Senate yesterday. By providing $7.5m in state matching grant funds for the Wisconsin BioHealth Tech Hub’s federal implementation grant application led by BioForward. If awarded, the federal grant of $50-70 million would help Wisconsin expand its international presence as a biohealth hub and advanced manufacturing powerhouse. I authored this exciting legislation knowing the state investment would advance projects to bring innovative technologies in personalized medicine to market, and they would invest in workforce education for highly specialized skills to support the technical career sector that continues to grow in Wisconsin. Next stop, the Governor’s desk.
