🚨 HR PROFESSIONALS — MARK YOUR CALENDARS! 🚨

The Flint Hills SHRM Annual Conference is coming up on Wednesday, October 21, 2026!

This year, we’re tackling two topics every HR professional and leader can relate to:

💬 Crucial Conversations
How do you navigate the conversations that are difficult, uncomfortable, or simply need to happen?

🔄 Change Management
Change is inevitable—but how we communicate, lead, and support employees through it can make all the difference.

Join us for a day of learning, practical takeaways, great conversations, and networking with fellow HR professionals.

We’re pretty sure everyone left a little more informed… and a LOT more exhausted.

On August 19, Flint Hills SHRM welcomed Natalie Bright with Bright & Carpenter Consulting for a deep dive into all things 2026 Kansas Legislative Session.

We covered the good, the complicated, the “wait…what does that mean for HR?” and everything in between. There’s a lot to keep up with, and Natalie helped us make sense of it all!

A huge THANK YOU to Natalie for sharing her expertise and helping us prepare for what’s ahead. 💜

We learned a lot. We have questions. We’re tired. And we’re definitely ready to dig in deeper to what this will mean for all of us and our businesses.

Childcare can have a HUGE impact on our employees. With the change in the school start and end times taking effect this year, your employees may be feeling the heat. Child Care Aware is collecting information on the need for additional after school care. Pass along the word to those that may be effected.

Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas is gathering information to better understand the community's need for after-school programming for the 2026–2027 school year.

Your feedback will help identify the gap between the need for care and the programs currently available. The information collected will support local providers and community partners as they plan staffing, expand programming, and increase capacity to better serve school-age children and their families.

If you have a school-age child, please take a few minutes to complete the survey and share it with other families. Every response helps build a clearer picture of our community's needs and supports efforts to create more accessible, high-quality out-of-school time opportunities for Manhattan students.
