Yesterday, alongside city officials, Mayor Donna Nevill, and development partners KUDA and JOIN, Michaels broke ground on The Lumberyard -- a new multifamily, mixed-use community, in the heart of downtown Davis, CA. The new community will rise on the former site of Hibbert’s Lumberyard and Hardware Store at the intersection of G and 5th Streets.

The five-story mid-rise will offer 239 apartments along with a variety of high-end amenities including a state-of-the-art fitness center, co-working space, clubhouse, pool and spa, and a landscaped roof deck and sky-lounge on the 5th floor. Five percent of the apartments will be set aside for households earning 50 percent or less of the Area Median Income.

Congratulations to our 2026 Michaels Education Foundation Scholarship Recipients!

The Villages at Belvoir team is grateful to have 46 residents earn a total of $480,000 for this 2026/27 school year. This award grows bigger and bigger every year and we are SO proud of our recipients this year and for the years to come!

Last week, teammates at our Camden, NJ headquarters filled over 1,000 backpacks with essential school supplies for residents of our affordable housing communities and their neighbors throughout the city. 🎒📚✏️

The 2026 Canstruction competition is underway! Alongside our partners at Urban Practice, our HQ teammates donated 3,6000 cans of food for our entry, "Ringing in the Sound of Sustenance." All food used to create the structure will be donated to the Food Bank of South Jersey, benefiting local families in need.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of The Michaels Organization's legendary Founder and Chairman, Michael J. Levitt, at the age of 94.

For more than 50 years, Mike's vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to creating communities that Lift Lives shaped our organization and helped transform the affordable housing industry.

A true pioneer, Mike was among the first developers to embrace government-assisted housing programs, the first to offer resident scholarships, and the first to expand supportive services that have since become industry models.

A housing visionary, philanthropist, and a hall of famer in both business and leisure, Mike leaves behind an extraordinary legacy reflected in the communities we serve, the opportunities we create, and the countless lives he touched.

Memorial Day stands as one of our country’s most solemn observances — a time to reflect on the courage, duty, and selflessness of those who gave their lives to protect the freedoms and institutions we often take for granted.
