The proposed Hickory Sands District AVA now has its own website: hickorysandsdistrictava.org

What makes this corner of the Texas Hill Country different lies beneath the surface: the Hickory Sandstone Member formation, an ancient red-sand seafloor, and the Hickory Aquifer beneath it.

The new site tells that story and maps the place, step by step.

A few things worth exploring:

- The map: the proposed boundary on satellite imagery. Tap any part of the line to see that step.

- The aquifer: a 3D view of the Hickory Aquifer under the district. Drag to turn it, and go below the ground to look up at the water.

- Walk the line: a tour of the whole boundary, step by step.

- The vineyards: the vineyards growing in the proposed district today.

You'll also find out how the land formed and where the proposal stands with TTB.

Such a beautiful tribute for everyone evolved in the Mason County W**e Industry. Don Pullum dreamed of creating a piece that captured the heart, soul, and history of the Hickory Sands District and Mason County W**e Industry and Jackrabbit Studios helped make this happen. Well done! So exciting to finally see all the years of filming come to fruition ❤️🍇🍷
