"So you do taxes?" No. "So you're an accountant?" Also no.

I'm a bookkeeper. I keep your books clean, current, and accurate every month so that when tax season shows up, your preparer actually has something to work with.
Here's what most business owners don't realize: your bookkeeper is not your CPA.

Your CPA is not your tax preparer. Your tax preparer is not your tax planner.
Four different jobs. Four different people. Most owners hire one and expect all four, then wonder why things slip through.

Comment BOOKKEEPER if people get your job wrong too.

3 things every grant application requires β€” and nobody hands you this list. πŸ“‹

1️⃣ A FUNDING PLAN β€” "I just need some money" is not a plan. What do you need the grant FOR? How will you use the funds?

2️⃣ CLEAN FINANCIALS β€” Annual gross revenue, revenue history, top income sources, top expenditures. And they want GROSS revenue, before expenses.

3️⃣ COMMUNITY IMPACT β€” Who do you serve and how do you serve them? Grantors need to believe that when they give you this money, you'll double the impact you've already made.

That's your skin in the game. Miss one of these and it doesn't matter how strong your idea is.

Question for you πŸ‘‡ Which of these three is the hardest for your business right now? I'm curious where most people get stuck.

I don't talk about this part often. 🀍

After Bell Investments, we had to sell the properties. And I'm not going to lie to you β€” I felt like a failure. I was depressed. I tanked.

It took me two years before I wasn't afraid to start something new again.

GIP Financials is my second chance. This is me doing the thing I believe God put me here to do β€” helping people who were never taught what they should have been taught about their money.

If you're sitting in the rebuilding season right now, the part nobody posts about, hear this from somebody who's been there: the season you're in is not the season you stay in.

Tell me in the comments πŸ‘‡ what's something you rebuilt after you thought it was over? I want to read these.

You keep applying for grants. You keep getting nothing. And nobody will tell you why. πŸ‘€

So let me say the quiet part out loud: it's your books.

Not the funder. Not your mission. Not the fact that nobody explained the process to you.

If you haven't invested in getting your financials organized, you don't have the presence to present yourself to a lender or a grantor. Your numbers have to be there β€” and they have to tell a story of what you need.

Grant readiness starts with book readiness.

Real question for you πŸ‘‡ Have you ever applied for a grant and never found out why you were denied? Tell me below β€” I read every comment.

Do you know how much Square took from you last year? πŸ’Έ

Here's the math nobody runs:

Someone buys from you for $100. You get $97. That $3 is a merchant fee β€” and it's 100% tax-deductible.

Now multiply that by every swipe, every checkout, every transaction this year. For a lot of business owners that's thousands of dollars in deductions they never claimed.

Why? Because the fee came out BEFORE the deposit hit the bank. Out of sight, out of mind, out of your pocket.

Pull your merchant statements. Add up the fees. Hand them to your tax preparer and watch what happens.

Comment below πŸ‘‡ β€” do you use Square, Stripe, PayPal, or something else? Curious what most of you are running.

Quick question: do you know the difference between a bookkeeper, a tax preparer, a tax planner, and a CPA? πŸ€”

Most business owners don't. And that's how they end up overpaying, under-planning, and stuck with one person doing a job that actually takes four.

Here's the ONE question to ask each one before you hire:

πŸ“‹ BOOKKEEPER β€” How often are you going over financial reports with me?
πŸ“„ TAX PREPARER β€” Do you file Schedule C or 1120 for my business type?
πŸ“Š TAX PLANNER β€” Do you cover retirement, generational wealth, long-term strategy?
πŸŽ“ CPA β€” Have you worked with entrepreneurs in my industry?

Different jobs. Different people. Different price points. ALL essential.

Drop a πŸ’― in the comments if you learned something β€” and tag a business owner who needs to see this.

Have you ever hired a grant writer and still got rejected? πŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Here's what nobody tells you: grants aren't free. You still have to do the work.

You can't take the proposal from a tech grant and use it for a workforce development grant. Funders read every word β€” and they know when your program doesn't match what you're asking for.

And if you're thinking a grant writer will fix it? They're not miracle workers. They can't create your program out of thin air. They can't create your impact.

They can only tell the story of the impact you've ALREADY made.

So here's my question for you πŸ‘‡

Have you applied for a grant and gotten rejected without knowing why? Tell me in the comments β€” I read every one.

A W-9 is not a form you want to complete by guessing.
For single-member LLC owners, the information entered must reflect how the business is reported for tax purposes.
Using inconsistent names or taxpayer identification information may create problems when the payer issues tax documents later.
Take a few extra minutes to review the form before submitting it.
Before sending your next W-9, compare it with your tax records. Do the name, business classification, and taxpayer ID information match?
