July 1 2026 will be here before you know it. ⏳

That's when Virginia's pay transparency law kicks in, requiring salary ranges in every job posting, banning salary history questions, and protecting applicants who talk about pay. No small business exemption, and any employers hiring Virginia for remote workers are covered too.

The good news? Employers who build documented salary bands and clean up their recruiting workflows now will be in great shape when the deadline arrives.

The only constant in federal contractor compliance right now? Change. βš–οΈ

Three major advocacy groups just urged Congress to restore and strengthen the protections that disappeared when EO 11246 was rescinded. Whether that happens by executive order or legislation, one thing is clear: proactive employers aren't waiting to find out.

Keeping your workforce data collection and analysis consistent through every policy shift and administration change is what being prepared is all about.

Our latest blog breaks down what the advocates proposed, what obligations still apply, and how to stay ready: https://hubs.ly/Q04lr9Ks0

If you filed your Illinois Equal Pay Registration Certificate in 2024, your two-year renewal is coming up sooner than you think.

This isn't a simple re-submit. Illinois has added new required fields since the initial cycle. If your HRIS isn't tracking those data points consistently, you could be rebuilding your dataset under deadline pressure.

A few things worth doing now:

βœ… Audit your EEO job classifications
βœ… Verify your Illinois headcount (growth may have changed your threshold status)
βœ… Download the latest IDOL reporting template
βœ… Run a comp analysis before you file so there are no surprises

Missing your window can mean a $10,000 per violation penalty, and a corporate officer has to personally sign off on the certification.

Most HR teams do a big compliance push in January... and then review in December. The middle of the year? Not as much.

A lot can change between January-June and compliance gaps don't wait for your year-end review to show up.

⏳ A mid-year HR compliance check-in doesn't have to be a massive undertaking. It's really about focusing on the areas where risk tends to quietly pile up: your I-9 records, your employee handbook, pay equity, labor law posters, and if you're using AI in recruiting, those tools too.

The good news is that catching issues now gives you time to fix them before they become something bigger. That's a very different situation than scrambling at year-end or responding to an audit.

πŸ—‚οΈ We put together a practical guide covering exactly how to approach this, with real-world scenarios and a step-by-step checklist. If your team hasn't done a mid-year review yet, this is a good place to start.
