Cameras are the most visible security investment most commercial properties make. They are also the most misunderstood.
A camera system monitors a site. It does not secure one. Those are different functions, and the security industry does not always make that distinction clear. Monitoring captures what occurs. Security works to prevent it from occurring in the first place.
There is also a practical limitation worth understanding. Fixed camera systems cover fixed angles. Coverage gaps are a known reality of any installed system, and anyone who spends regular time on a property develops a working knowledge of where that coverage ends. That is not a criticism of camera technology. It is simply how fixed systems operate.
The measure of a well-run site is not the quality of its footage. It is how rarely that footage needs to be reviewed.
At On Time Security, cameras are one component of a broader security plan. Every post we run includes active on-site personnel, regular patrol, and officers who are physically engaged with the property. That combination is what prevents incidents rather than documenting them.
