Because great products aren't just molded—they're perfected through experience.

In plastic injection molding, perfection is never achieved by avoiding mistakes—it's achieved by learning from them.

Every injection molding project presents unique challenges. Whether it's refining a mold design, adjusting a process parameter, or improving part performance, each obstacle provides valuable insight that helps us become better engineers, better manufacturers, and better partners to our customers.

At JATCO, Incorporated, our 50 years of experience did not evolve by never encountering problems—they were built on solving them. Every lesson learned strengthens our processes, improves quality, and helps ensure future projects are done right the first time.

Continuous, relentless improvement is at the core of what we do. By analyzing results, embracing innovation, and applying decades of manufacturing expertise, we turn challenges into opportunities for growth. This saves our customers time and money.

Manufacturers are seeking sustainable alternatives to petroleum-based plastics. Biodegradable polymers are becoming increasingly important in injection molding. Among the most promising are Polylactic Acid (PLA) and Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), two bioplastics that serve sustainable manufacturing.

PLA: The First Mainstream Bioplastic:

PLA is a widely used bioplastics that is derived from renewable resources such as corn starch and sugarcane. Its advantages include renewable feedstocks, good stiffness and clarity, excellent injection molding performance, and a lower carbon footprint.

PLA is widely used in packaging, consumer goods, medical devices, and 3D printing. However, most PLA products require industrial composting conditions to break down efficiently. In natural environments, degradation can be much slower than consumers expect.

PHA: A New Generation of Biodegradable Polymers:

PHA is produced naturally by microorganisms, it can be processed using conventional methods including injection molding, extrusion, and film production.

Suppliers have developed a means that uses waste methane from landfills, wastewater treatment facilities, and agriculture to produce PHA. Their approach captures methane, feeds it to naturally occurring bacteria, produces PHA biopolymer, manufactures products using standard processing equipment, and allows those products to biodegrade. PHA offers a compelling pathway toward a more circular plastics economy.

At JATCO, Incorporated, we are experts at using all kinds of resins suited for specific plastic injection molded products. Our customers are demanding we use more sustainable materials in our molding processes, and we are leading the industry in this area. As we have mentioned, JATCO, Incorporated, has deep knowledge of selecting correct materials for specific applications. Fire-retardant materials play a critical role in modern injection molding—especially in industries where safety, compliance, and reliability are non-negotiable.

From electrical housings and automotive components to medical devices and consumer electronics, many molded products must meet strict flame-resistance standards to reduce fire risks and improve user safety.

Common products requiring fire-retardant plastics:
• Electrical connectors & switchgear
• EV battery components
• Appliance housings
• Medical equipment enclosures
• Aerospace & transportation parts
• Industrial control systems
• Consumer electronics

Common fire-retardant materials used in injection molding:
• Flame-retardant ABS
• Polycarbonate (PC) blends
• Nylon (PA6/PA66) with FR additives
• PBT & PET engineering resins
• PPS and PEI for high-temperature applications
• Halogen-free flame-retardant compounds

These specialized materials are designed to meet standards like UL 94 while maintaining mechanical strength, durability, and processability.

As products become more electrified and compact, the demand for advanced fire-retardant injection molded materials continues to grow—helping manufacturers balance performance, safety, and compliance.

Let our expertise guide your next injection molding opportunity. Our Team will work relentlessly with you every step of the way to ensure successful mold and the best possible price. Name This Product?

We are playing this game again.

Last week we asked you to Name That Product. We gave clues that it is deployed at resorts around the world to stop hazardous events from occurring. Well, this device is used for avalanche control. It is fired into snow banks to bring about controlled avalanches. The goal is to release unstable snow thus preventing larger, unpredictable avalanches from occurring.

The new product in question is used as a calming agent and can be purchased anywhere in the United States. It is overmolded in two different materials, one rigid and one that is pliable like rubber. Please feel free to email [email protected] with your ideas on what this is.
