What started with an idea from Bridgewater Marina's Ryan Waters in 2017 has grown into a tradition that the entire SML community can be proud of.

This summer, Feed the Fish for Make-A-Wish raised more than $26,800, bringing the program's total to nearly $230,000 for Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia.

Thank you to the Smith Mountain Eagle for sharing the story behind the program, including how Ryan's family's personal connection to Make-A-Wish helped inspire an idea that our team and this community have embraced for nine summers.

We're so grateful to everyone who has bought a bag of popcorn, fed the fish, told a friend or brought their kids and grandkids down to the docks. Every $1 bag has been part of something much bigger.

Thanks again to the Eagle for telling the story, and to Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia for the life-changing work they do for children and families across Virginia. 💙

Well, this isn't something we see over the marina every day! 🎈

Hot air balloons from Wine, Balloons & Tunes at Wind Vineyards at Smith Mountain Lake made their way across the lake today, giving us a pretty spectacular view from Bridgewater Marina.

The event is still going on across Halesford Bridge at Wind Vineyards until 9 p.m. tonight.

Just another Saturday at Smith Mountain Lake. ❤️
