Before he built MPS Security & Protection, CEO Michael Julian was a 21-year-old bouncer at Pompeii — the nightclub Hollywood actually showed up at.
He lived in a one-bedroom in Huntington Beach, split a mattress on the floor, worked the door, hit the beach, and rode motorcycles.
He also started in the family trade at 16, running surveillance for his father, Ron Julian, out of a Subaru.
He wanted to follow his dad into law enforcement. Orange County Sheriff’s said no after he told the truth in the oral board.
That closed door sent him to Hemet for eight years — and into the company he would later expand into investigations, executive protection, uniformed security, and active shooter training.
A reminder that the path into this industry is rarely clean. Sometimes the career starts when the first plan falls apart.
