🪣 National Hole in My Bucket Day 🪣

Today is National Hole in My Bucket Day, and while it may be rooted in a classic folk song, it offers an important leadership lesson.

Many organizations work hard to “fill buckets” through team-building, recognition programs, incentives, and employee engagement efforts. Yet sometimes those efforts don’t seem to stick.

Why?

Because there may be holes in the bucket.

A culture of negativity, poor communication, lack of trust, burnout, or unclear expectations can quickly drain even the best intentions.

Before pouring more into the bucket, leaders should ask:

🪣 What holes need to be repaired?

The strongest teams aren’t built by simply adding more…they’re built by intentionally removing what is draining people in the first place.

Today, inspect the bucket.

You may discover that fixing the hole is more important than filling it.

This morning we led a robust strategic planning brainstorming session for stakeholders and supporters of Carolina Human Reinvestment - CHRSC. The morning included a review of the findings of two surveys we created, focused on the past and present experiences with the organization. This supported the final activity of the day focused on the future of the organization. Thank you Giany Didier Guedjo for allowing us to take this journey with you and thank you Frances P. Bunnelle Foundation for hosting their session this morning!

Today we led our quarterly leadership development session for the leadership team at OrthoSC, focused on effective communication. The session included a variation of the telephone game, the C-P-R model of communication and we walked through 6 relevant scenarios to promote and support effective communication across the organization. Thank you Kasey Herrington and the entire OrthoSC team for your participation and engagement today and thank you BELFOR Myrtle Beach for serving as the host for this morning’s training.
