Today, something I’ve carried for years officially becomes real.

RICP Academy is officially open. 🥳

But this story didn’t start today.

It started in April 2018 with Alston Management Group and a woman who had already spent 15 years in healthcare, had the knowledge, had the experience, had the vision… and was still scared to fully bet on herself.

God had already shown me what I was supposed to build.

I just wasn’t ready to be obedient yet.

So I kept working.

And over the next six+ years, I kept building too.

More experience. More specialties. More organizations. More providers. More coding. More billing. More operations. More education. More leadership. More understanding of how all of those pieces come together—and where healthcare organizations lose revenue when they don’t.

What began as Alston Management Group and AMG Health Institute eventually became something much clearer:

Revenue Integrity Coding Partners.

And today, RICP Academy.

This rebrand was never about changing a logo or choosing prettier colors. It came from finally having the experience, clarity, and confidence to put language around the work I had been doing for years.

I know exactly who I want to serve.

I know exactly what problems I want to help solve.

And I know education is a huge part of how we change healthcare.

I want providers to understand the WHY behind documentation.

I want coders and billers to understand more than how to work an edit or fix a denial.

I want organizations to understand that revenue integrity is not one department—it is the result of what happens across the entire process.

And I want the people doing this work to leave RICP Academy able to take what they learned and actually use it.

So today feels a little different.

Because the woman who started this journey in 2018 was hoping that one day she would be brave enough to build what she saw in her head.

The woman launching RICP Academy today knows she was being prepared for it the entire time.

God gave me the vision.

I just needed the obedience.

And apparently a few extra years of experience.

Tonight in Nashville looks a little different than it probably could. 😅

I’ve traveled a LOT this year. For a while, I was on a plane almost every week. I intentionally slowed that down, but these last couple of weeks I’ve been back on the go again.

And truthfully, I don’t mind being onsite. I actually enjoy it.

But one thing I’ve learned as a business owner is that just because I can do everything doesn’t mean I should.

Tonight, I could have gone out and enjoyed Nashville. Instead, I came back to my room, showered, ordered some Edley’s BBQ and sweet tea, and decided to stay right here.

Because tomorrow is a big day.

I’m putting the finishing touches on the launch of the RICP Academy — something I’ve been planning, building, changing, rethinking 😂 and working toward for quite some time.

So tonight, I’m doing the work that actually needs to be done. A little Swishvo work. Looking over my September plans. Checking my calendar. Responding to the emails that need a response.

And everything else can wait.

Because I am tired as hell. 🥱

My 40s have taught me to slow down. To stop treating everything like it’s urgent. To take the rain check. To be okay when everyone doesn’t understand my decisions. To protect the things that matter most in this season.

I work during the week because my weekends belong to my family. And I’m learning to give myself that same consideration too.

I listen to my body more now. I rest when I have the choice instead of waiting until my body makes the decision for me.

I live a very peaceful, very unchaotic life these days, and I absolutely love that for me.

So tonight isn’t Broadway or rooftop cocktails.

It’s Nashville BBQ, sweet tea, a good book, a little necessary work, and an early bedtime.

And I genuinely don’t feel like I’m missing a thing.

Sometimes preparing for what you prayed for looks a lot less exciting than the thing itself.

Tomorrow, I get to step into something I’ve been building toward for a long time. Tonight, I’m choosing to be rested enough to enjoy it. ♥️

Providers are expected to navigate documentation, medical necessity, coding, payer rules, denials, and reimbursement without ever really being taught the language of revenue integrity.

That has always bothered me.

We spend years preparing providers to care for patients, but very little time preparing them to understand the systems that determine whether the care they provide is properly documented, supported, billed, and reimbursed.

And when something goes wrong, they are often left trying to figure out why a claim denied, why a service was not supported, or why the reimbursement did not match the care they delivered.

That gap is one of the reasons I created RICP Academy.

I want providers and their teams to understand the “why” behind the requirements—not just be told what to fix after something goes wrong.

Because provider education should not begin after the denial.

It should be part of the strategy from the beginning.

When most people hear the word audit in healthcare, they immediately think documentation and coding.

And yes, we look at those things. But that’s only part of what I’m looking at.

This week, I’m onsite observing and auditing processes and workflows. I’m watching how the work actually moves through the practice, where information changes hands, how responsibilities are divided, what happens when something falls outside of the normal process, and where small operational gaps may be creating much larger problems downstream.

In another part of my work, I’m auditing a healthcare platform from a revenue integrity perspective. That means looking closely at everything from provider setup and credentialing to system build, coding, billing workflows, claim creation and the data moving between each step.

Because sometimes the documentation is correct.

The coding is correct.

The biller did exactly what they were supposed to do.

And the process still failed.

That’s why I never think of auditing as simply reviewing charts.

Sometimes we need to look at the documentation.
Sometimes it’s the claim.
Sometimes it’s the workflow.
Sometimes it’s the technology.
And sometimes we need to zoom all the way out and examine how all of those pieces work together.

That’s revenue integrity.

Look closely enough to find where the breakdown actually begins—then fix the process, not just the outcome.

To enjoy the life I love, sometimes I do what most people aren’t doing.

It’s almost midnight, and I’m in a hotel room submitting claims. 🙃

Not because I have to. Because one thing entrepreneurship has taught me is how I work best.

For me, it’s often late at night when everything is quiet. No calls. No emails. No meetings. Just the sound of my own thoughts and the work in front of me.

Tonight I’m reviewing system build while checking claims for accuracy, proper coding and all the little details that need to be right before they go out the door.

And I genuinely enjoy this.

I still get my full eight hours of sleep. I just get to decide when my day starts and ends.

People talk a lot about the sacrifices of entrepreneurship, but I don’t think we talk enough about the freedom of it.

The flexibility to understand yourself, recognize when you do your best work, and build your schedule around that.

For the type of work I do, this is my ideal environment.

Laptop open. World quiet. Brain fully on.

And tomorrow morning? I’ll sleep in. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Building something meaningful requires more than a strong vision. It requires the right people, the right expertise, and a willingness to continuously examine whether what we are building actually works for the people we intend to serve.

That is one of the things I value most about the work happening at Swishvo.

Behind the platform is a team thinking critically about the entire provider experience—from credentialing and enrollment to documentation, billing, reimbursement, technology, and operations. We are not simply creating access to insurance reimbursement. We are building the infrastructure providers need to successfully participate in it.

I am proud to contribute to that work through revenue integrity and equally proud to work alongside a team that understands how interconnected each of these functions truly is.

And I want to thank Georgina Georgina Dukes-Harris for trusting me with this work and giving me the opportunity to help shape what revenue integrity looks like at Swishvo. Building something that has not been built before requires leaders who are willing to ask difficult questions, listen when gaps are identified, and continue refining the vision as the work evolves. I appreciate the space she has given me to do exactly that.

There is still much more to build, and I’m looking forward to what comes next.

There’s something different about being onsite.

I can review reports, denials, workflows and documentation remotely—and I do. But when I have the opportunity to actually step inside an organization and observe how the work moves from one person to the next, I get to see the things a spreadsheet will never show me.

How information is communicated.
Where someone has created a workaround just to keep things moving.
Where responsibilities overlap—or fall through the cracks.
Where the process makes perfect sense on paper but doesn’t quite work in real life.

That’s why I enjoy this part of the work so much.

This week I’m onsite supporting an oral healthcare organization with workflow observation, process improvement, provider education and a pretty significant cleanup project. And before I start telling anyone what needs to change, I want to understand how they work and why.

Because good consulting isn’t walking into someone else’s operation with all the answers.

Sometimes the most important thing you can do first is observe.

And while I absolutely love getting to travel and do work that genuinely makes me happy, there is another side to these trips.

I miss Jordan and Dimitri. ♥️

But I also know what I’m building is for them. They get to watch me build a business, do work I love, take chances on myself and create a life I worked very hard to have.

And hopefully, somewhere in all of that, I’m making their road a little easier too.

So today I’m grateful for both—the work that takes me away for a few days and the two people who make me excited to come home. 🤎

One person should not be expected to do everything in your revenue cycle.

And yet, I see it all the time.

The same person is billing claims, reviewing denials, trying to interpret coding guidance, answering provider questions, auditing documentation, following up on A/R, and somehow also expected to figure out why revenue isn’t where it should be.

Those are different functions. And they require different skill sets.

That’s one of the reasons I built RICP differently.
