♻️🛞 The steel industry finds a new use for old tires:

A trial funded by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management used crumb rubber provided by Liberty Tire Recycling to test the effects of Tire-Derived Fuel (TDF) as an alternative carbon source in the steelmaking process.

Results showed suitable furnace efficiency and found no negative impacts on steel quality, supporting TDF as an alternative fuel source in the steelmaking process with the potential to divert thousands of tons of end-of-life tires from the waste stream annually.
