Save the Date: Community Conversation About SRPD's Flock Camera Program
The Santa Rosa Police Department invites community members to attend a public meeting regarding the use of Flock Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras.
When: Thursday, September 17, 6:00 p.m.
Where: Utility Field Office, 35 Stony Point Road
Flock cameras are a public safety tool that helps officers investigate serious crimes by identifying suspect vehicles and developing investigative leads. The technology has assisted investigators in homicide cases, kidnappings, robberies, organized retail theft investigations, and other major crimes.
Protecting public safety and protecting privacy are equally important. Flock cameras capture vehicle information only and do not identify people, faces, race, or gender. Data is retained for only 30 days, searches require a case or event number, and system use is audited regularly.
This meeting is an opportunity to:
-Learn how Flock technology works.
-Understand the privacy safeguards and oversight measures governing its use.
-Ask questions directly of Chief John Cregan and SRPD personnel.
-Share your feedback on current practices and policies.
-Discuss ways to strengthen transparency, accountability, and community trust.
We encourage you to attend and participate in the conversation.
