Happy belated International Day of Sign Languages! 🌍✨

While the official day was yesterday, we celebrate linguistic diversity and Deaf culture all year long!

This video was taken yesterday at the kickoff event for the UN Women's Gender Snapshot 2026 report launch. We are so excited to showcase the beauty of sign language diversity by featuring three distinct sign languages in this clip:

✨ American Sign Language (ASL)

✨ International Sign

Let's continue to promote, protect, and celebrate sign languages everywhere! How did you celebrate yesterday? Let us know below! 👇

The Trial of a Million Words That Shaped Interpreting History.

Most people associate simultaneous interpreting with the United Nations, not a post-war courtroom in Germany.

During the 1945–46 Nuremberg Trials, the Allies faced an unprecedented linguistic challenge: four official languages, dozens of defendants, hundreds of witnesses, and a trial record expected to reach millions of words. Consecutive interpreting would have made the proceedings unworkable.

To meet the moment, interpreters and engineers built a real-time system using microphones, headsets, and selectable language channels. This became the blueprint for modern simultaneous interpreting and directly influenced how the UN designed its own booth standards.

It’s also important to recognize that long before audio technology existed, Sign Language Interpreters were already providing access in courtrooms — a reminder that equitable communication has always been people-driven, not technology-driven.

☀️ Out of Office (Sort of…)

I’m currently in Spain, taking some much-needed time to rest, enjoy the sun, recharge by the sea, and spend quality time with family — and, of course, indulge in all the delicious food.

That said, I’m still providing services while away — so thank you for your patience as I catch up and balance work and holiday time.

¡Qué calor hace! But I’m not complaining. 😎🌊🍷

Wishing everyone a joyful and restorative holiday weekend!
