Our small business center provides no-cost, 1-on-1 business advisement, training & research to New York's small business owners and entrepreneurs. Helping new and existing businesses lead to their increased productivity and profitability and, in the long-run, contribute to the stability and growth of the small business sector and the economy. Specialized in training and assisting entrepreneurs, the Small Business Development Center advises start-up and existing business owners on how to succeed. Administered by the City University of New York (CUNY), the center provides management and technical assistance, such as business planning, financial analysis, marketing, cash-flow projections, and business loan assistance throughout New York.

The Staten Island Small Business Development Center (SBDC), hosted by the College of Staten Island, is proud to announce our inaugural Fall into Financing Small Business Lending Event on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026. Sponsored by Empire State Bank, M&T Bank, Valley Bank, and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. inside the Center for the Arts at CSI (Building 1P).

The event will feature local lenders available to answer your questions and provide information about their lending options. Whether you're an established business, a new business, or an aspiring entrepreneur, this will be a great opportunity to speak with various lenders at once.

Our sponsors will also take part in a panel discussion, What Do Lenders Look For In A Potential Client, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Recital Hall (also located in 1P). Panelists will share insights into the factors that can strengthen a borrower’s chances of securing financing and help business owners better prepare for the lending process.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday heroes who answered the call in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

Although today marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks, for Staten Island and communities throughout New York, the impact of that day remains deeply personal. We will never forget.

Regional Director Michael Anderson was among the College of Staten Island contingent who attended the recent SIEDC Liberty & Legacy Gala as Robert Wallace, President of College of Staten Island's Auxiliary Services Corporation and CSI’s Executive Legal Counsel and Chief Administrator in Charge of Community Partnerships and Government Relationships, was honored.

Wallace has been a driving force behind many of CSI’s operational and capital improvements, helping shape the campus into a modern destination for learning, research, and community engagement.

Our Certified Business Advisor Joe Muller joined other advisors from the Downtown Manhattan & Brooklyn SBDC hosted by Pace University, the Midtown Manhattan SBDC hosted by Baruch College, the Queens (LaGuardia) SBDC hosted by LaGuardia Community College, and the Queens (York) SBDC hosted by York College at the U.S. Small Business Administration Metro New York District Office’s "Small Business Meeting the Lenders & Lender Ready Forum."
