I spent more than 20 years of my life in Fashion and Luxury before moving into financial services.

And today I realize something I didn't always think about back then:
A good career and good benefits can make us feel financially secure without necessarily knowing whether we're truly protected.

That experience is one reason I care so much about helping people understand what they have—not just what they assume they have.

Sometimes changing careers doesn't mean leaving your past behind.

Sometimes it helps you understand exactly who you're meant to help next.

25 years ago, I could never have imagined I would one day work here.

On September 11, 2001, I was a university student in Caltanissetta, Sicily.

When we heard what was happening in New York, I ran to my boyfriend’s house and sat with his mother and sisters watching the television. Like millions of people around the world, we watched in disbelief.

I didn’t know New York then. I certainly couldn’t imagine that it would one day become such an important part of my life.

In 2011, I finally came to New York for the first time. These are some of the pictures I took.

I visited Ground Zero and photographed the new tower still being built.

And today, 25 years after 9/11, I work inside that tower.

Sometimes life brings you somewhere you could never have planned.

And there is an even deeper meaning for me in knowing that the work I do there today is centered around protecting people and their families and helping them prepare for life’s uncertainties.

We cannot prevent every tragedy. We cannot know what tomorrow will bring.

But we can love fiercely, take responsibility for the people who depend on us, and do what we can today to protect their future.

I could never have dreamed, sitting in Sicily 25 years ago, that this would become part of my story.

Today I feel gratitude. Pride. Responsibility.

And above all, remembrance.

For every life lost.
For every family changed forever.
For every first responder and ordinary person who showed extraordinary courage.

We remember. We honor. We never forget. 🇺🇸

Building a stronger Italian community, together. 🇮🇹🇺🇸

ITALIAN ALUMNI SUMMER APERITIVO took place last night at Spring Place, and I had the pleasure of joining this inspiring gathering of alumni from many of Italy’s most prestigious universities.

It was an evening that celebrated not only our academic roots, but also the incredible value of bringing together Italian professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, and leaders in New York.

A special thank you to Lydia Ferrarese, from our common Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, for her dedication and outstanding work in organizing such a successful event, together with other Chapter Leaders from amazing Italian Universities.

We were especially honored by the participation of Giuseppe Pastorelli, the Consul General of Italy in New York. During his remarks, the Consul shared an inspiring vision: creating a federation of all Italian alumni associations. The goal is to go beyond networking by building a true community with a stronger collective voice—a critical mass capable of connecting more people, fostering new collaborations, supporting innovation, and extending the reach and impact of the Italian Consulate across the United States.

By uniting alumni from different universities under a common umbrella, we can leverage our diverse experiences and networks to create opportunities that no single association could achieve alone.

Congratulations to everyone who helped make this evening such a success. The conversations, new connections, and shared enthusiasm demonstrated the tremendous potential of a united Italian alumni community.
