Spring has officially sprung!☀🌻 And it is bringing lots of showers with it, which is going to make the grass start growin'! As the weather warms up and we start flipping on the AC, here are a few quick tips you at home can do to help keep your outside unit running well!

1. Keep the area around your unit clear of weeds, grass, and debris (at least 2 feet of space is ideal).
2. Gently rinse off the coils with a garden hose or use coil cleaner to remove dirt buildup.
3. Check the fins and straighten any that are bent (carefully!) to maintain proper airflow. We recommend using a fin comb.

With temperatures staying below freezing for extended periods, C & A Supply wanted to share a few tips to help keep your HVAC system running at peak performance.

This time of year, blower motor failures are very common in furnaces. Some signs of a failing blower motor include weak or no airflow from vents, unusual noises such as grinding or squealing, burning smells, or a furnace that cycles more frequently than normal.

To help maintain efficiency and extend the life of your system:
• Replace air filters monthly; clogged filters restrict airflow and put extra strain on the blower motor
• Keep the blower wheel and motor housing clean, as dust and debris can cause performance issues. Ensure the blower wheel is properly balanced; an unbalanced wheel can quickly damage both the motor and the wheel itself (FURNACE MUST BE OFF BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN)
• Schedule annual professional tune-ups; catching issues early can prevent costly breakdowns during peak heating season

❄️ Extreme Cold Weather Reminder ❄️

With very cold temperatures expected over the next several days, here are a few important things to keep in mind:

🔥 Heat Pump Systems:
If you have a heat pump, it’s a good idea to switch your system to Emergency / Auxiliary Heat during extreme cold. This helps prevent unnecessary strain and keeps your home more comfortable.

🏠 High-Efficiency Gas Furnaces:
Check the exhaust pipe outside your home for ice buildup. Ice can restrict airflow and cause performance issues.

🌀 Air Filters:
Make sure you have a clean air filter installed. A dirty filter can reduce airflow and efficiency when you need heat the most.

❄️ Gas Regulators:
Keep an eye on your gas regulator where it enters the house. If it’s mounted low, drifting snow can block the vent underneath and cause problems.
