You can have customers, sales coming in, notifications going off, and still wonder where all the money went.
**A busy business and a profitable business are not always the same thing.**
This is something I had to learn in business.
Revenue can look great on paper, but then you subtract payroll, supplies, software, marketing, fees, taxes, operating expenses and all the little things that add up…and suddenly that big revenue number doesn't feel so big.
That's why I've learned to stop looking at revenue alone.
I want to know:
What's actually left?
Which services are making money?
Which ones are taking more time than they're worth?
Are the prices still appropriate for what it costs to deliver the service?
Could the business survive a slow month?
And most importantly—**is the business actually paying the owner?**
Sometimes growing a business isn't about getting more customers.
Sometimes it's about taking a closer look at the business you already have and making the numbers make sense.
More revenue is great.
**But profitable revenue is the goal.**
If this is something you're thinking about in your business too, what number are you paying closer attention to right now: revenue, expenses or profit?
