Collaboration today. Strategy for what’s next.

The ESPS-Bay West LLC team recently came together for its FY27 Strategy Session, bringing partners together to share ideas, evaluate opportunities, align priorities, and identify the actions that will move our work forward.

The two-day session created space for open discussion and strategic thinking, followed by focused planning to turn those ideas into clear priorities and next steps.

Strong partnerships are built through communication, shared goals, and a commitment to delivering results—and we’re excited about what’s ahead for the ESPS-Bay West JV in FY27!

Apparently, retirement was so nice Dave decided to do it twice. 😊

This week, we’re celebrating Dave Brewer as he officially heads back into retirement after coming out of it to help Eastern Shawnee Companies (ESC) build and grow our environmental practice.

Dave brought years of experience and industry knowledge to ESC, but what we’ll remember most is his willingness to share it. His leadership helped establish a foundation our team will continue building upon long after his last day.

We’re incredibly grateful Dave chose to spend this chapter of his career with us.

Thank you, Dave, for everything you’ve given ESC — and congratulations on Retirement: Take Two!

Today we recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

The October observance has a different history from the Native American Day recognized locally in September. Indigenous Peoples’ Day grew from efforts to replace Columbus Day with a day recognizing Indigenous peoples, their histories and their continued contributions.

For the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma (ESTO), the newer October observance did not replace the longstanding September tradition. Both continue to be recognized, each carrying its own history and meaning.

As a company wholly owned by ESTO, we appreciate the opportunity to help share that distinction while recognizing the continued strength and sovereignty of Indigenous peoples and Tribal Nations today.

Ohio has long held special significance for the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma (ESTO)—and today, Eastern Shawnee Companies (ESC) is working to build new opportunities there for the future.

On September 28, ESTO, ESC and GPD Group leaders came together to recognize a partnership that is helping us establish a stronger business presence in the state.

Through GPD’s Small Business Incubator Program, ESC now has a place to work, connect and grow in Ohio. More importantly, we have a partner helping us build relationships and become part of the regional business community.

Newly elected Chief Chris Samples marked the occasion by presenting GPD with a framed letter of appreciation for its support.

This partnership is about much more than workspace. It’s about laying a foundation for what comes next.

Eastern Shawnee Companies CEO Matt Metcalf, PE, F.SAME, took the stage this morning as the speaker for the 2026 GSA Heartland Networking Event in Kansas City.

Matt's topic—The Power of Networking—is one he knows well after more than 30 years of building relationships, developing partnerships and pursuing opportunities in the federal marketplace.

His message was simple: Relationships come before opportunities.

Show up. Listen first. Learn what others need. Build partnerships around complementary strengths. And stay connected—because today’s conversation may become tomorrow’s opportunity.
