As a young Bay Area native couple, in our twenties, we took a leap of faith by leaving our jobs in the city and moving to a country property on the extreme Sonoma Mountaintop. From the first time we stood on the land, magic overwhelmed us and we knew our lives would never be the same again. We fixed up the house, introduced the best farming practices to the land, watched countless sunrises and sun

sets, wished upon hundreds of shooting stars, fell further in love, got married, and had two beautiful girls. Throughout that time, we worked passionately to create a distinctive wine so that you, too, can be overjoyed by the magic of the extreme Sonoma Mountaintop.

My favorite dessert paired to perfection with Sophie James Sparkling Rosé… ✨🤌🏼✨ Homemade whip cream served with a bounty of cherries & strawberries… I love it because it’s so easy & so beautiful... I don’t add any sugar or ingredients to the whip cream - it’s so delicious just to whip up by itself without the added sugar. I served this Christmas night and the adults loved it and the kids did too! Hope you’re all having a beautiful holiday season! Merry Christmas our beloved community! We give thanks to each and every one of you today and everyday. We hosted 16 of our family members last night and it just filled my heart & soul with such joy. There is truly nothing I love more than gathering our family in our home, making homemade meals together & enjoying our beautiful wines around our table. Tell me - where are you celebrating today? This past weekend James & I celebrated the holiday season with some of our nearest & dearest up on the Mountaintop - and it was a Christmas DREAM! 🎄🎊

Our dear friends from brought to life all of our holiday culinary fantasies and we were all feeling so festive, merry & bright!

The floral goddesses helped me to deck the halls with boughs of holly, garlands, tinsel & sparkle. The Mountaintop has never looked so good! 🎄🎀✨

Sophie James bottles were popping, bubbles were flowing, and glasses were cheers-ing all evening long. It was a night to remember! 🥂🍾🫧

We love celebrating with friends & family and hope Sophie James wines are bringing meaningful memories & moments to your holiday table now & through the New Year!

Happy Thanksgiving, my dear friends!

The fall & winter holidays are some of my favorites. Time seems to slow down at the end of the year, and we get to spend extended quality time with friends & family, usually gathered around the table or the hearth, with delicious seasonal dishes, and of course, warmed by the love of our organically-farmed wines.

Thanksgiving always brings gratitude to the forefront of our minds, because James and I are just forever grateful for the life we are living, for our family, and our Sophie James community. We would not be where we are today without your love & support for us & our wines - and we want you all to know how much we appreciate YOU!

Sometimes you have to just take a step back & soak it all in. We were so honored that our friends asked us to come pour our wines & celebrate the opening of their NEW store at the . It was a true pinch me moment!

When we launched Sophie James 7 yrs ago, I never thought it would take me here - to a place where I get to team up with some of my favorite brands & creatives to create magic together. GOOP has a special place in my heart & always will.

See when we first took our dramatic leap of faith & moved from the city to our magical Mountaintop property, I left an old version of myself behind in SF. I didn’t know where this adventure would lead me. I had high hopes, but in many ways I had no idea.

It was 2010, I was 26 and going through a pretty rough transition. I had just left my job at UCSF as a stem cell scientist & turned down my dream job at Stanford to move up to an isolated mountaintop. People called me crazy. The adventure was exhilarating but the reality was sometimes scary - and the risk was pretty daunting.

What would become of my life? I knew I had to reinvent my career - but what would I do on the top of a mountain? I remember GOOP had just launched & I religiously read newsletters. She inspired me. She gave me hope. There I was, just 26, & I knew I wanted to do something meaningful with my life. I wanted purpose. She showed me that you COULD reinvent yourself…

I have always believed you “see it, to be it” - and seeing Gwyneth launch GOOP showed me that I too could change careers, find new purpose, & reinvent myself.

Sophie James launched 7 yrs after we took that dramatic leap of faith. Thank you for showing me that life is full of different chapters - & one doesn’t need to define another. We CAN do new things. We CAN reinvent our lives & careers after having children. We can follow our dreams & do what others say is impossible.

Thank you GOOP for the great honor of getting to celebrate your new Marin shop - it was truly a dream come true!

We are so excited to finally share a recap of our recent Fall member pick-up party ! 🍂🥂

We loved seeing our members in person & we are planning a few pop-ups for 2025!

Our Sophie James fall wines were flowing & there was so much community bonding. I was in heaven seeing you all make fast friends with your fellow SJ members! 🍷🍾🥂👯‍♀️

Oh & can we pls talk about how beautiful the flowers were by ?! This duo has some serious flower power. 🌸🌷💐⚡️

We were so absolutely spoiled by our dear friends, husband-&-wife chefs & owners, Carrie & Rupert Blease & the decadent fall fare they prepared for our members. So delicious!

We love their SF restaurant, but did you know they also will style you out with amazing menus for private events? Rupert & Carrie & their whole team are just the best. I can’t tell you in words how beyond creative, talented & amazing they all are!

It’s my birthday week & I can’t help but feel reflective. This year, all I want is to celebrate with my family around a table & relish in THIS MOMENT of being alive. I want exactly what I have now & forever.

I want to hold my daughters’ hands & tell them how much I love being their mama. I want to kiss James like it’s our first electric kiss & thank him for believing in me. I want to hug my amazing mama & thank her for loving me & making me believe in myself. I want to look into my sister’s eyes, tell her she’s my best friend & I couldn’t do life without her.

And for you, my beloved community, I want to say what a GIFT you are to me. I’m forever grateful bc our wild dream has only been possible because of YOU.

We’re climbing a mountain together. We started on this climb many years ago - we’ve been through peaks & valleys - & now it’s time to appreciate how far we’ve come. This year, I not only can see the summit, but also enjoy the view.

Building a 1st generation, family wine business today isn’t easy - it takes a lot of grit & determination - but by focusing on QUALITY & COMMUNITY, it IS possible. We believe this with every cell in our bodies, & with nurturing, hope & hard work this dream has blossomed into something so beautiful.

I have always looked at SJ as a true story of the American dream. My friends, this dream may not be easy, but it’s worth it. Why? Bc of the feeling I get every single day when I jump out of bed. Our dream is our mission & our mission is our purpose - & it lights me up!

We’re all born with our own light to shine & I feel so grateful that SJ is my light that I get to share with you. When we let our light shine, we give others permission to do the same. Together, this community shines so brightly in our shared love & care for Mother Nature. There is magic in the power of community, & I believe you can taste & feel that LOVE in our wines.

I feel SO much gratitude for this beautiful life, for James, the girls, our family, friends, & this amazing community!
