Spring in Ohio means mosquito breeding season is starting. Northern and western Ohio report the majority of West Nile cases, and the northern house mosquito is our state's primary vector.
Mosquito pressure builds as temperatures rise and spring rain creates standing water in yard debris, gutters, and low spots. Properties near wooded edges or with dense vegetation face higher exposure.
Effective mosquito control hits breeding sites at the source:
• Treating standing water areas
• Targeting vegetation where adults rest
• Focusing on transition zones between lawn and woods
Treatment works best when applied before peak outdoor season and repeated during wet periods when breeding conditions return.
