Thank you to the amazing network of Oregon Small Business Development Center Network leaders, including our own PCC SBDC Director, Tammy Marquez-Oldham, for your tireless leadership and service to our small business community!

The Oregon SBDC Network’s recent Spring Leaders Meeting was a valuable time to connect, collaborate, and prepare for the year ahead.

Our Network leaders gathered to learn from Business Oregon economist Damon Runberg about Oregon’s current economic landscape and emerging small business trends, while also preparing for the Network’s upcoming accreditation review.

Strong partnerships, shared learning, and continued collaboration help us better support Oregon’s small businesses and communities across the state.

Say hello to Christian Aniciete, MBA, Marketing Specialist for the PCC Small Business Development Center (SBDC) — and one of the storytellers behind the small business features you see in your feed.

Christian is part of the SBDC marketing team, “helping show and tell the stories of our local small businesses as well as PCC SBDC’s valuable training programs and initiatives especially across social media channels.” But for him, it’s more than photos, hashtags or a sweet tagline — it’s connection.

“My favorite part about my job is the opportunity to support our local small business owners and help tell their stories — the successes and the trials,” he shares. That storytelling often means visiting shops and restaurants, meeting owners face-to-face, experiencing their products or services firsthand, and creatively turning those moments into stories that highlight the real impact of SBDC support. He says, “It brings me back to my calling for business at a young age growing up in the Philippines: helping my grandmother run her convenience store. Now, it brings me joy to play a small part in sharing the journey small business owners take in building their dreams.”

Outside of PCC SBDC, Christian also works in public affairs and communications for Washington County, Oregon and serves his community through leadership roles with local nonprofits, including API Forward, AMA PDX, and planning Oregon’s first Filipino American festival. When he’s off the clock, you’ll likely find him trying a new restaurant, spending time with family and friends — or adding another plant to his collection.

Follow along each month as we spotlight the incredible people behind PCC SBDC.
