In 2002, the year that was a palindrome:
- Salt Lake City hosted the Winter Olympics.
- The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and The Bourne Identity franchises all released movies, and Toby Maguire took up the Spiderman mask.
- Michael Jackson received “Artist of the Century” award from the American Music Awards. To this day, his Thriller album stands the test of time.
- Marshall Mathers introduced us to “The Eminem Show” and “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” won the Grammy Album of the Year.
- We started taking a closer look at Mars through NASA’s 2001 Mars Odyssey spacecraft mapping.
- The Euro was introduced.
- North and South Korea were formally reunified.
- Brazil won the FIFA World Cup. Again.
- The Queen Mother passed away.
- We were still in shock following the September 11 attacks and adjusting to a whole new way of life.
- The Roomba, also known as the cat transportation system, came cruising into our homes, giving us a look at the possibility of a digital home.
- SpaceX was founded.
- The Mozilla Firefox browser was released.
- LinkedIn was founded and business networking’s game was about to change (albeit, not until May 2003).
And also, in 2002? I went from working for corporate America to working for myself. Twenty-four years later we’re celebrating another great year of GO-HR and the amazing team that shows up every day to help our clients succeed. Thank you for allowing us to be part of everyone’s magical journey and for being part of ours.
