🔬 Under the Scope: Meet Kirsten Tripplett, Ph.D., LeafWorks’ microscopist!

Kirsten has spent decades studying plants in the field, herbarium, and laboratory, developing deep expertise in botanical identification and microscopy. Now, she’s bringing that expertise to LeafWorks!

Through our partnership with Kirsten, we offer microscopy and macroscopy services that can help with:
🌿 Botanical species and plant-part identification
🔬 Analysis of raw, powdered, chopped, and whole botanical materials
🔍 Detection of adulterants, contaminants, filth, and foreign matter
📸 Photo documentation of diagnostic botanical structures

Microscopy and macroscopy can be used as stand-alone identification methods or paired with LeafWorks’ genomic testing to provide complementary evidence for botanical identity and quality.

LeafWorks had a great event at the 2026 AOAC Annual Meeting, presenting our next generation DNA testing approach, our new cloud-based analysis testing model featuring our partnership with NOW Foods and explaining how to curate appropriate reference databases to meet genomic needs. We loved being part of so much incredibly positive discussion around what modern genomics can do for testing programs throughout the industry, since its features offer new opportunities for diagnostics.
