Big progress is happening at the tasting room:

Every update makes it feel a little more real, and we’re getting closer to opening the doors to this beautiful new space. Up next: drywall!

Something new is happening on the hill, right alongside our tasting room renovation! 😁🌱

This past Sunday, our friends from Benchmark Laser helped us plant 810 vines of a newer hybrid variety called Cabernet Volos. Developed in 2002 by the University of Udine in Italy, it’s a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Bianca so think familiar Cabernet vibes with a modern twist.

It’s the best of both worlds: it has classic Cabernet character with built-in resistance to powdery and downy mildew. And thanks to grafting onto 101-14 rootstock, these vines are tough enough to handle phylloxera, that pesky North American grape pest.

Even before the Martin Family owned Swedish Hill, over 40 years of experimentation had already shaped this vineyard: testing new grapes, growing styles, and innovative techniques. Planting Cabernet Volos continues this tradition, and as Vineyard Manager James says: “I’m excited to continue this long tradition.”

Now the fun part begins, watching it grow! In about three years, we’ll get our first taste of these grapes and see what this new chapter bring!

ONE YEAR DOWN, MANY MORE TO GO! 🎉

What a year it has been. Through the long harvest days, the cold winter months, and even working through construction chaos, this past year has brought us so many incredible moments and plenty of challenges too. But through it all, we’ve never been more thankful or proud of our amazing team. Honestly, they’re basically superheroes at this point.

None of this would have been possible without the continued support from all of our wonderful customers and followers. Thank you for showing up for us, supporting us, cheering us on, and growing with us through every season this year. Your support truly means the world to us. ❤️

And if you haven’t had the chance to stop by yet, we hope you can soon, especially with our new space hopefully coming together in July… or maybe even the end of June if we all cross our fingers hard enough!

Here’s to a year full of growth, gratitude, and a little bit of chaos because, honestly, that’s what makes it fun!
