I've had several Sun Lakers call me in the last few weeks after getting hit by scammers — a few of them lost money. I see this stuff constantly with my work and it genuinely bothers me, so I put together a simple guide on the scams that are making the rounds right now in our community.

Almost everyone I visit has them written in a notebook, on sticky notes, or on a piece of paper in a drawer. I completely understand why — but it's one of the most dangerous habits you can have when it comes to protecting yourself online, and it causes a lot of frustration.

Older Americans lost $4.9 billion to fraud in 2024. The average loss per victim? $83,000. And it almost always starts with a stolen or weak password.

🖥️ Why Your Computer Suddenly Gets Slow (And the Easiest Fix)

Hey neighbors! Here’s a quick computer tip that can help if your computer is being slow lately.

👉 Shut down your computer completely at least once a week.

This means hitting the blue Windows icon at the bottom of your screen, then clicking the power symbol, then selecting "Shut Down", not just "Restart" or "Sleep".

Why this helps:

It clears memory

It resets stuck programs

It fixes browser slowdown

It stops update loops

It gives the computer a “fresh start” (kind of like a good night's sleep 😄)

If you leave your computer on for weeks at a time this could make a big difference.

Give it a full shut down today and you might notice a HUGE difference.

After it shuts down, press the physical power button on your desktop or laptop to turn in back on.

We’re proud to be sponsoring the Bradshaw-Neu Tennis Charity Classic at Cottonwood this week! Look for our banner on the main tournament court all week!

The rain has put a little damper on things but there’s plenty of great tennis left this week.

All proceeds from the tournament are going to local charities as well!

Just a friendly reminder that support for Windows 10 will end on October 14th of this year.

That means if you have an older computer running on Windows 10, it’s going to be a security risk for you to keep using your computer after October.

If you are on Windows 10, we highly recommend either upgrading to Windows 11 if you can, or purchasing a new computer before October!

And if you need help setting up a new computer or upgrading to Windows 11, feel free to give us a call.
