That can be bad news when it comes to your HVAC system. Both direct and indirect strikes send massive electrical overloads through the system, frying delicate parts such as…

⚡️ Capacitors and Relays: High voltage can rupture capacitors or weld switches together.

⚡️ Compressors: The heart of the unit! A severe surge can short-circuit or burn it out completely.

⚡️ Control Boards: Microprocessors and delicate circuits easily fry during a voltage spike.

⚡️ Thermostats: Connected low-voltage wiring can transfer the surge indoors, damaging the wall unit.

While having weather like this is the norm in our great “Sunshine” State 🤥 , it can seriously cause you some headaches.
When the lightening storms are heavy, we recommend to turn your system off to stop the drawing in of electricity.
And if you suspect your unit has been hit, we recommend to call us out to inspect it 😎🤳
