Today, C-5 Fire, along with Hooks Volunteer Fire Department and Liberty Eylau Fire Department, made a major upgrade to our radio communications by transitioning to a digital radio signal.

This upgrade provides our departments with cleaner, clearer transmissions, an additional channel, and increased coverage, ultimately improving communication and interoperability across our departments.

We’re always looking for ways to improve our capabilities and better serve our communities, and this is another step forward in doing just that.

A HUGE THANK YOU to LifeNet Air for providing an amazing lunch for everyone today! We truly appreciate your continued support to our department and the fire service.

Better communication. Better coverage. Better service.

C-5 Fire Department Begins ISO Protection Class Regrading Process

C-5 Fire Department is beginning the process of an ISO Protection Class regrading. The ISO Protection Class rating is an important measure of a fire department’s ability to respond to and protect its community, and the rating can have a direct impact on insurance rates for property owners and businesses.
Our department’s last ISO regrading was completed in 2016, at which time C-5 Fire Department improved from a Class 6 to a Class 4 rating. Since that evaluation, our department has continued to improve its capabilities and resources. These improvements include the addition of two new fire engines and the upgrade of our ladder truck, along with continued efforts to strengthen our overall fire protection services.

As part of the current regrading process, C-5 Fire Department will be implementing a business fire inspection program. This program will include:

Annual fire inspections of commercial buildings and businesses.
Fire and life-safety inspections to identify potential hazards and help ensure compliance with applicable fire codes.
Plans review for new commercial construction and major renovations or alterations to existing commercial buildings.
Continued documentation and evaluation of the department’s fire prevention and protection activities.
The purpose of this program is not only to support our ISO regrading efforts, but more importantly, to help protect the lives and property of the citizens, businesses, and visitors we serve.
We understand that the implementation of a new inspection program may require some adjustment for local businesses. Our goal is to work with business owners, contractors, and property managers throughout this process to identify potential hazards, answer questions, and help ensure that our community remains safe.

C-5 Fire Department is committed to maintaining and improving the level of fire protection provided to our community. The ISO regrading process provides an opportunity to demonstrate the improvements our department has made since 2016 and to continue building a stronger, safer community.

We have attached a copy of the ordinance that was approved by Emergency Service District #4. If anyone has questions please call our Business Office Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm 903-831-7900 .

C-5 Firefighters John Alquist, Michael Cigainero, and Marshall Treadway spent this past week training alongside firefighters from across Southwest Arkansas in rope rescue techniques.

This specialized training prepares our firefighters to perform below-grade and high-angle rescues. While these types of rescues are low-frequency events, they are highly technical and require specialized skills, extensive training, and teamwork to perform safely and effectively.

Our firefighters are working toward their Technician-level certification, continuing to build the knowledge and skills necessary to handle even the most challenging calls for service.

The C-5 Fire Department and our firefighters are committed to continuous training and professional development so we can be prepared for any call, any time, and provide the highest level of service possible to the citizens we proudly serve.

C-5 Firefighters, along with firefighters from departments across Bowie County, recently attended the orientation for the Bowie County Firefighter I & II class.
Over the next several months, these dedicated students will work hard to earn their State of Texas Firefighter certification. We wish them all the best as they begin this challenging and rewarding journey. Stay safe, train hard, and good luck to each of you!
