A book signing is happening this Sunday and I would love for you to be there!

June 7th, 2 to 4 PM at the Historic Dillon House, 404 SW 9th St here in Topeka.

Drop in anytime, stay as long as you like, grab a signed copy of Magnetic Leadership for Women Entrepreneurs, and let's talk for a few minutes.

I will share a few thoughts at the start and books will be available to purchase on-site.

I'm looking forward to this. Topeka is home, and getting to celebrate something like this with the people and the community that have always been part of my story feels amazing.

Come as you are. Come when you can. I would love to see you there.

I was 24 years old when I became a nursing home administrator.

Everyone had an opinion about that.

I was too young. Too inexperienced. The residents wouldn't respect me. The staff wouldn't take me seriously. The families would question every decision I made.

I heard all of it.

And then I did it anyway.

Years later I was driving and a segment about Diana Nyad came on the radio. If you don't know her story, she swam from Cuba to Florida at 64 years old. No shark cage. 110 miles of open ocean. She had tried four times before and failed. The fifth time she walked out of the water after 53 hours and said three things:

1. Never give up.
2. You're never too old.
3. It looks like a solitary sport but it takes a team.

I sat in that car and felt and realized something very important.

She wasn't telling me anything I didn't already know. She was just reminding me of my own tenacity.

I've worked with many women in leadership positions over the years. And what gets in the way is that tiny voice that says you are too young, too old, too new, too much, not enough.

That voice is lying.

Here is what I use to keep mine quiet:
Prayer.
Journaling.
Time in nature.
Gratitude.
Baby steps forward even when I can't see the whole path.
Feeling the fear completely instead of running from it.

None of these are magic. All of them work.

Which one do you already use?
And which one do you need most right now?

Your unhealed places will make decisions for you.

Most leaders never see it coming.

They are talented. Driven. Genuinely good at what they do.

And then something triggers them.

🔸 A team member starts to shine.
🔸 A client pushes back.
🔸 A competitor gets the recognition they wanted.

And instead of responding from their values, they react from their wounds.

🔻 The drama-filled team dynamic you cannot explain.
🔻 The good person who quietly left.
🔻 The decision that made sense in the moment and cost you everything later.

75% of people admit to experiencing career envy that has destroyed a leadership decision.

These aren't necessarily bad people or leaders. They are simply people who skipped the hardest part of leadership.

➡️ Leading themselves first.

Here is what I know to be true after nearly two decades of working with leaders:

➡️ You cannot lead others well from a place you have not visited yourself.

🔸 If you have not identified the traumas that dictate how you show up, they will show up anyway.
🔸 If you are not honest with yourself about where you are falling short, your team feels it before you name it.
🔸 If you are not living a balanced life, everything around you will eventually reflect that.

The way you show up dictates the way your team shows up.

Every single day.

Not sometimes. Not on your worst days. Every day.

Leading yourself first is not a personal development luxury.

It is the foundation everything else in your business is built on.

Where in your business are you leading from a place of healing instead of hurt?

Quick question for you today.

What are your top three values?

Not the ones you think you should have. The ones you actually live by. The ones that show up in how you make decisions, how you handle conflict, and who you are when no one is looking.

I spent years in leadership before I stopped long enough to name mine clearly.

When I finally did, things became more clear.

In my book, I walk the reader through finding or recommitting to their personal values so they can lead by them.

If you have read the book, let me know what yours are in the comments.

If you know your values, drop them in the comments also.

It's here.

Magnetic Leadership for Women Entrepreneurs is live on Amazon today.

I started this book because I believed women in business deserved a different kind of leadership conversation. One that starts from the inside out. One that honors your voice, your values, and the people you lead.

I finished it because I knew someone needed it.

That someone might be you.

Or it might be the woman you know who is building something beautiful and just needs someone to remind her that she already has what it takes.

Will you do something for me today?

Grab your copy. And then tag one woman in the comments who needs to read this book.

That one tag could change everything for her.

Tomorrow, my book is in the world.

And it doesn't feel real yet.

I wrote Magnetic Leadership for Women Entrepreneurs for the woman who is brilliant at what she does and still questions herself in the quiet moments.

For the woman who built something real and wonders why it doesn't feel like enough yet.

For the woman who leads others beautifully and forgets to lead herself.

That woman was me for a long time.

She might be you too.

Tomorrow is for both of us.

Culture is a mirror of how you lead.

And it's one of the most beautiful parts of building a business.

Here's what shapes the culture of your business. Hint: It starts with you.

➡️ How you communicate expectations
↳ Clarity from you creates confidence in your people
➡️ How you handle conflict
↳ Grace under pressure becomes the team's new normal
➡️ How you show up on hard days
↳ Your resilience gives everyone else permission to keep going
➡️ How you lead your people (employees, VAs, contractors, collaborators)
↳ Everyone in your ecosystem rises when you do
➡️ How you lead yourself first
↳ This is where it all begins

You don't have to be a perfect leader.

But your people thrive when you are a magnetic leader!

📖 Chapter 18 of Magnetic Leadership for Women Entrepreneurs.

The book drops THIS Thursday on Amazon!

I watched a brilliant woman burn her own business down.

She had the talent, the team, and the timing. All of it.

She got jealous of the person she put in charge of her best idea.

Her top person was excelling. Growing. Becoming the face of something remarkable.

And instead of celebrating that, she quietly reassigned her. Moved her out of the spotlight without a conversation.

That person left.
Started her own company.
Took the team.
Improved the technology.

And today she is the sole provider of that service in her industry.

The woman who started it all? Looking for a buyer.

I have sat with that story for a long time because it is not unique. I have watched versions of it play out in boardrooms, small businesses, and startups. The details change, but the outcome rarely does.

Here is what I know after two decades of guiding leaders:

The biggest threat to your business is rarely outside of you.

Leading yourself first means getting honest about what is running the show underneath your decisions.

Your insecurities. Your unhealed stories. The places where fear is dressed up as strategy.

It means asking yourself the hard questions:
1. Am I showing up the way I would want to be led?
2. Are my decisions coming from vision or from fear?
3. What am I protecting that is quietly costing everyone around me?

You do not have to be perfect. Nobody is asking for that.

But the way you show up every single day ripples out to every person in your business. Your team. Your clients. Your culture. Like a pebble dropped in still water, those ripples grow bigger as they go.

You get to choose what kind of ripples you are sending out.

That choice starts with you.
