Member engagement is no longer something associations can address only during renewal season.

A recent Associations Now article highlights the importance of making recruitment and engagement a year-round effort. Associations can strengthen member relationships by clearly communicating their value, personalizing outreach, inviting members into relevant programs, and regularly asking for feedback.

Technology and AI can make these efforts more efficient, but they cannot replace the personal connections that create a genuine sense of belonging. The strongest engagement strategies combine useful data and technology with consistent, meaningful human interaction.

Relevance can’t be assumed—it has to be demonstrated. As member expectations evolve, associations are being challenged to clearly show the value they deliver through advocacy, education, community, and measurable impact. This article offers an important reminder that proving relevance is not just about messaging, but about staying responsive and indispensable to those you serve.

Can AI make executive decisions?

As artificial intelligence continues to evolve, organizations are beginning to explore its role not just as a tool—but as a strategic partner in leadership and decision-making. A recent article from Associations Now examines how AI is being used to support executive functions, from analyzing complex data to identifying trends and informing high-level strategy.

While AI can enhance efficiency and provide valuable insights, the article underscores a critical point: human judgment remains essential. Leadership decisions often require context, ethics, and emotional intelligence—areas where AI still falls short.

For associations and organizations navigating this shift, the question isn’t whether AI will play a role in decision-making, but how to integrate it responsibly. The most effective approach may be a hybrid model—leveraging AI for data-driven insights while keeping people at the center of final decisions.

What role do you see AI playing in leadership within your organization?

Leaders are leaning on AI to guide their actions, with few clear benefits so far. It may help to see AI as part of a process, not its end.
