I hear this quite often!

The reason we recommend having your saddle checked and reflocked every 6–9 months is that we want to catch small changes before they become big problems.

With variations in seasons, training, fitness, and overall condition, horses are constantly changing in weight and muscling. Add to that the fact that no horse—or rider—is perfectly symmetrical, the wool flocking in your saddle panels will naturally compress unevenly over time.

Our goal is to keep your saddle as balanced as possible so it continues to fit well, allowing both horse and rider to move comfortably and correctly while developing strength, straightness, and balance.

These changes happen gradually, so they’re often easy to miss until they start affecting performance or comfort. Staying on a regular maintenance schedule with your saddle fitter helps keep your saddle in top condition, allowing you to focus on what matters most—enjoying your horse and your ride.

Think of reflocking as preventative maintenance—much like routine dental care or bodywork. It’s easier (and less expensive) to address small issues before they become major ones.
