Rough to Restore Handyman is a small family run business. We have been purchasing and rehabbing houses in St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren county since 2018.

We are expanding our business to include small home repair handyman style work.

We replaced all of the broken smoke and CO detectors at this property to get the home ready for sale.

Inspection repairs are often a collection of smaller items, but getting them taken care of can make a big difference when you’re trying to get to the closing table.

We removed an unnecessary connection from this gas line and properly supported the remaining line with the correct hangers.

It’s not always the biggest repairs that matter during a home sale. Sometimes it’s taking care of the details so the inspection report can get cleared and the transaction can keep moving.

Another door saved from rot! 🚪🔨

The wood framing around this door had been damaged by years of moisture and weather. We removed the damaged wood and replaced it with durable PVC composite—giving the door a clean, finished look and a material that won’t rot like wood.

A small repair now means one less maintenance headache down the road.

🔨 THE WEEKLY FIX: Don't Forget Your Garden Hoses

Before freezing temperatures arrive, take a few minutes to take care of those garden hoses.

☑️ Disconnect them from outdoor faucets
☑️ Drain out any remaining water
☑️ Coil them up and store them somewhere protected from freezing temperatures

Leaving water trapped inside a hose can cause it to freeze, expand, and damage the hose.

It's a tiny fall chore—but one less thing to replace when spring rolls around. 🍂

Recognize this local drive-through?

We recently repaired damaged siding at Scooter’s Coffee, including replacement, sealing, and painting. Since the drive-through stays busy during the day, we completed the work at night after they closed.

Sometimes the job requires working around the business, not the other way around. We were happy to get it done without disrupting their customers.

Not every job has a stunning before-and-after.

Sometimes it’s simply… not working → working. And honestly, those are some of our favorite jobs. 🔨

This range hood had stopped doing its job, so we replaced it with a nearly identical hood. We replaced the old hood with a nearly identical model so the kitchen kept its original look while getting a properly functioning hood again.

Not every repair needs to be dramatic. Sometimes you just need something fixed and working again.

🔨 THE WEEKLY FIX: Check Your Gutters & Downspouts

Fall leaves are coming, and your gutters are about to get a workout. 🍂

Before the leaves start piling up, take a quick look at:

☑️ Leaves and debris building up in the gutters
☑️ Gutters pulling away from the house
☑️ Clogged downspouts
☑️ Downspouts dumping water right next to your foundation

That last one is easy to overlook. Your downspouts should move water away from your foundation—not create a little swimming pool beside it. 😬

A few minutes of maintenance now can help prevent a much bigger headache later.

Selling your home? 🏠

Sometimes the buyer’s inspection comes back with a random list of things that need to be fixed before closing.

Good news—we LOVE random lists. They’re kind of our specialty! 🔨

For this closing, we handled a gas line repair and replaced several smoke/CO detectors. The result? The repairs were completed and the closing stayed on schedule.
