There’s so much more to Business Analysis than gathering requirements.
I recently had the pleasure of speaking with
Christian Schroeder he completed my End-to-End Business Analysis Masterclass, and I wanted to share his experience with you.
Chris brings over five years of Business Analysis experience across telecommunications, banking, IT transformation, local government and infrastructure —so his perspective was particularly valuable.
One thing he shared really stood out to me. When I asked what he took away from the course, he said:
“There’s so much more beyond that, which then gets more into the strategic space.”
That is exactly why I created the End-to-End Business Analysis Masterclass. It’s not just about learning techniques from a textbook.
It’s about thinking beyond requirements gathering, understanding the strategic role of a Business Analyst, applying concepts to practical real-world situations, learning from other experienced professionals, challenging your thinking through collaboration and building confidence to approach problems from different perspectives.
Chris also highlighted something I believe is incredibly powerful: learning from like-minded people. When BAs from different backgrounds come together, everyone brings a different perspective, experience and way of thinking. Often, that’s where the biggest insights happen.
Thank you, Chris, for your openness, your contribution and for sharing your experience of the Masterclass.
For those of you working in Business Analysis: do you think the role of a BA is becoming more strategic? And what’s the biggest gap between knowing BA techniques and actually thinking like a strategic Business Analyst?
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
