The Waterbury Black Business Network was formed to fulfill the mission of B.L.A.C.'s Economic Sustainability Initiative. The purpose of the Waterbury Black Business Network is to build unity amongst Black business owners, promote and celebrate Black businesses, and encourage the sharing of resources within the Black community in order to increase economic power and sustainability within our city.

As we close out Black Business Month, we simply want to say THANK YOU.

To every business owner, entrepreneur, community leader, partner, facilitator, sponsor, and supporter who showed up throughout August, thank you for making this month what it was.

From workshops and networking opportunities to community conversations, business showcases, professional development, and simply showing up to support local businesses, every event reinforced what this month was truly about: building a stronger ecosystem together.

Black Business Month may be over, but the work continues. We’re carrying the connections made, lessons learned, resources shared, and momentum built throughout this month forward with us.

Because progress doesn’t happen in isolation.

Strong Black-led nonprofits are essential to building stronger Black communities. Investing in the leaders behind these organizations strengthens our collective capacity to advocate, secure resources, create solutions, and build institutions that serve our community for generations.

The Blackprint Business Fellowship is officially open for applications and we want you in this cohort.

The Blackprint Business Fellowship is a 9-week accelerator for Black and Brown entrepreneurs in Greater Waterbury, Connecticut. It is selective, cohort-based, and built for business owners who are ready to stop figuring it out alone and start building with real tools, real instruction, and a community that is invested in their success. Every session is led by an expert. Every week you leave with something built and applied directly to your own business.

A huge shoutout to the Waterbury business owners who hopped on the bus with us and made the trip to Mohegan Sun! 🚌💨 There’s something powerful about getting outside of our usual spaces, making new connections, expanding our networks, and representing the incredible businesses being built right here in Waterbury.

Thank you to The Business Meetup for hosting such an amazing event and creating a space for entrepreneurs and professionals from across Connecticut to connect, build relationships, and talk BUSINESS. 👏🏾

Black Business Month is in full swing, Waterbury! 🤎

We kicked off the month celebrating Black health and wellness, and there’s still so much more to come.

Throughout August, we’re creating opportunities to connect, learn, network, and intentionally support Black and Brown-owned businesses across our city.

And we’re adding Forward Fridays! 🙌🏾

Each Friday, we’ll partner with a local restaurant to support together. Grab dinner, bring a friend, meet us there, and put your dollars directly back into the businesses that help make Waterbury what it is.

Because building economic power isn’t just something we talk about. It’s something we practice.

There are still plenty of events, workshops, networking opportunities, and community experiences happening this month.

St. Vincent DePaul Mission Director of Operations Edwin Rodriguez was delighted to attend the Waterbury Black Business Network, Inc. Mixer hosted by Mutual Security Credit Union —and even more delighted by a special encounter! Edwin had the pleasure of reconnecting with Tashana, Kenneth, and Jaden Lawrence, proud graduates of the St. Vincent DePaul Mission – Merriman Culinary Job Training Program, who were showcasing their family business, Chef Chey Catering. We are so proud to see our graduates using the skills they gained through our program to build a successful family business and serve their community. Great food and strong family bonds truly go hand in hand! 🍽️❤️ We were also pleased to see Kathy Taylor, President and CEO of the Connecticut Community Foundation, whose continued advocacy and support for our culinary program helps make these opportunities possible.

🎉 It’s officially Black Business Month, Waterbury!

We’re proud to kick off a month dedicated to celebrating the entrepreneurs, innovators, creators, and leaders who continue to shape our city and strengthen our economy.

This month is about more than recognition. It’s about creating opportunities to learn, build meaningful connections, support one another, and invest in the future of Black and Brown businesses right here in Greater Waterbury.

We officially launched the celebration with our Black Health & Wellness Providers Fair this past Saturday, and we’re just getting started.

Join us throughout August for networking events, workshops, leadership conversations, business showcases, and opportunities to connect with fellow entrepreneurs and community partners.

Whether you’re a business owner, professional, creative, or someone who believes in supporting local Black-owned businesses, we invite you to celebrate with us all month long.
