Most team communication problems are not actually communication problems. Teams often misunderstand work styles, priorities, and communication preferences

When leaders say:
“The team doesn’t communicate”

…it’s not because people are unwilling.

It’s because people:
-process information differently
-communicate differently
-solve problems differently
-respond to stress differently

A common thing I hear from job seekers…

“I know I’m good at what I do. I don’t know how to put it on my resume.”

That conversation is so typical of clients that I can almost count on it. But once we sit down and have the conversation about what they loved about their previous jobs, what they were known for, what made them unique in the roles they have held. I see their confidence shift. The thoughts and words come easily and then they are able to create a resume that really highlights their:

--strengths
--results
--skills
--accomplishments
--value they bring
--direction they want to go

What people underestimate about a job search

When I work with people in their career transition, they often underestimate themselves. Part of the value of what I do is to see how their experience can be transferable. The value that the roles in which they have performed prepare them for the next opportunity (leadership / problem-solving / communication skills). And how much stronger their story can sound with the right framing.

Three things I see job seekers underestimate all the time:
1. How much they’ve actually accomplished
2. How transferable their experience is
3. How often confidence changes once they can clearly tell their story

There is often work to do before we ever start on the resume.
