JOBURG RESIDENTS – IMPORTANT PAYMENT UPDATE 🚨
There is currently a serious billing and payment system failure at the City of Johannesburg.
⚠️ Key issues you need to know:
- Payments made since 19 January are not reflecting on accounts
- From today, 2 February, Customer Service Centres are NOT accepting payments
* Both the e-Venus payment system and the MCR billing system are down
* February bills are likely to be delayed
💳 Where you CAN still make payments
EasyPay outlets:
* Pick n Pay
* Checkers
* Shoprite
* Boxer
* Spar (selected stores)
* Engen / Shell / BP (selected sites)
Your bank:
* Banking app or internet banking
* ATM
* Bank branch
⚠️ Important advice
* KEEP ALL PROOF OF PAYMENT (receipts, confirmations, screenshots)
* If you usually receive your bill mid-month and it hasn’t arrived yet, pay your normal average amount plus about 5% to stay in credit
ℹ️ What’s actually broken
* e-Venus is the City’s payment system (it takes your money)
* MCR is the billing system (it tracks what you owe)
Right now, they are not communicating with each other. So people are paying, but the payments aren’t reflecting on accounts.
Think of it as the cashier taking your money while the accountant has no clue that it happened.
Hence, chaos.
