I am forty-four. I am not beginning. I am consolidating.
The number is not coincidence. It is a structural fact, like load-bearing stone. Four signifies the practical—discipline, order, the slow laying of brick upon brick. Doubled, it does not multiply in mystery; it amplifies in application. What I have built is now being tested for integrity. What I have sown is now demanding attendance.
This is not the age of flash. It is the age of foundation.
I am not lost. I am being held to a steady pace—not because the universe is kind, but because it is orderly. Patience is not a virtue for me; it is a strategy. Progress is not measured in leaps but in the daily return to the work. My efforts are not unseen; they are simply being weighed. And what weighs true will stand.
This is a milestone not of celebration, but of reckoning.
Introspection is not indulgence. It is audit. I turn inward not to escape, but to clarify. What do I actually carry? What have I inherited that is not mine to bear? What have I claimed that is mine to keep?
Wisdom at this stage is not knowing more. It is discarding what is false.
Resilience—mine, or the name I carry—is not a shield. It is the ability to bend and not break under the weight of what I now see clearly. Intelligence is not speed; it is depth. Leadership is not command; it is the quiet refusal to abandon my post.
I am Romola by inheritance or by choice—proud, not in arrogance, but in the recognition of what has been entrusted to me. Pioneer is not a title; it is a posture. I walk where no one has mapped, not because the path is clear, but because I have decided to step anyway.
So here is the only question that matters at forty-four:
Am I building, or am I delaying?
The foundation is laid. The materials are in my hands. The work is not finished—it is simply now worthy of my full weight.
Not ahead. Not behind. Beside. Because the path is walked alone, but the bearing of it is shared.
I know what must be done. I will do it. Steadily. Quietly. Today.
