South Africa's property maintenance industry is largely unregulated, which means quality varies wildly. As a service provider, we think you deserve to know exactly what to look for — even if that means some jobs go to someone else.

→ Ask for a written scope of work before any price is discussed — vague quotes lead to scope creep and disputes
→ Check for public liability insurance (minimum R1 million cover) and a valid tax clearance certificate
→ Request references from similar property types — residential work is very different from commercial or mixed-use
→ Be wary of very low quotes — they usually mean shortcuts on materials, labour, or compliance
→ Insist on a written warranty for workmanship (minimum 12 months for painting, waterproofing, and sealing)
