Every so often a project comes along with a bit of everything — and this one really did. 🙌

We've been supporting 𝐂𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 through a real milestone: taking back operation of their own weighbridge for the first time in 25 years.

With a change of contract on the horizon, Council was clear on what mattered — protecting the experience their customers already know, while lifting consistency across all their facilities. Our team spent two days across multiple sites and depots to understand the operation inside out, then delivered a gap analysis and clear next steps ahead of go-live.

Then the fun part: two days of hands-on training with the leadership team, setting them up as confident weighbridge operators ready to pass that knowledge on to frontline staff. More than training, though — a full suite of fit-for-purpose guides, handouts and procedures the team keeps using, and new signage workshopped to make fees, charges and load sizes clearer for customers across sites.

Did you know your support hours cover more than the obvious stuff?

If you're based outside Melbourne, getting to a breakfast event isn't just a breakfast event. It's an early start, a night away, maybe a full day out of the office - and often that's enough to make the decision for you before you've even weighed it up.

The Victoria Women of WARR Leadership Breakfast is on Friday 9 October in Melbourne, bringing together women across the waste and resource recovery sector to hear from others who've built their careers in this industry.

Earlier this year Lacey was in Sydney catching up with Jerrara Environmental, working onsite with Peter O’Shannessy and Matt Whelan.

The team were engaged to support Jerrara Environmental with facility assessments and helping them to better understand their opportunities within the NSW waste levy framework in the liquid waste space, as part of their investment strategy.

Meet Kate Denham - one of the team we call in when a project is big, complex and doesn't come with an obvious answer. 👋

Kate works across some of Resource Hub's larger, more layered projects - the ones with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and no clear path to a solution. Her role blends research, strategy and hands-on delivery, from evidence-based reports through to visiting waste and resource recovery facilities across regional Australia. She's happiest on-site, asking questions and understanding how a system really works before forming a view on how it could work better.

As a sustainability specialist, Kate brings experience across government, consulting, commercial energy, circular economy and start-ups. That mix gives her a broad lens - from the practical "what can we recycle here?" questions through to the infrastructure, policy and collaboration that real change depends on. She has a knack for making sense of complex information and turning it into clear, realistic actions for business and government.

Outside of work, Kate's a traveller at heart - she rarely leaves a new place without finding a local swimming spot, wandering a nearby town, or sneaking in some sightseeing before the flight home.

We love that sometimes a team member is delivering a job in regional Australia, only to find that Kate's also unexpectedly in town! It's happened twice now, and usually ends in a great surprise team dinner.

A big welcome to Albury City Council! 👋

We spent a full day on-site with the team delivering Gatehouse Best Practice Training - and consistency was the theme front and centre.

The goal? A consistent customer experience at the gatehouse every single time, while the team keep their own authentic flair. Because best practice isn't about turning people into robots - it's about getting the important things right (data capture, compliance and revenue all ticked ✅) while letting personality shine through.

A special shout-out to Donna, Michelle and Rowan - thanks for making us so welcome, and for bringing the energy (and the cake 🎂) to the day.
