Our automotive crew have been working hard, making leaps and bounds with their progress, skills and teamwork in the past month. Having experience and skills like these are exactly what will allow them to be the best candidate to employers moving forwards 🌟

🏗️ Congratulations to Ben Heales on Securing a Bricklaying Apprenticeship! 🧱

We’re thrilled to share that Benjamin Heales, a dedicated student from Pine Rivers State High School Past and Present, has just gained a Bricklaying apprenticeship through East Coast Apprenticeships! Ben, who attends the Wynmet Resources and Infrastructure course at our Petrie site every Wednesday, has been a standout student with his positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Ben recently started his school-based apprenticeship and has already been enjoying the hands-on experience. His time at Wynmet has helped him feel well-prepared for this new chapter, where he’ll split his time between working as an apprentice Bricklayer on Mondays and Tuesdays and continuing his school and training the other three days. Come the new year, Ben will transition to full-time work.

While Ben was initially unsure which trade to pursue, his discussions with Wynmet Trainers and Keith at East Coast Apprenticeships led him to discover a passion for Bricklaying. We couldn’t be more proud of his decision and the progress he’s made!

Ben's trainer Adam, has seen him excel in every aspect of the course. Stating he's been a consistent, hardworking student who has shown up with determination and a willingness to learn. Ben's apprenticeship is well-deserved, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.

Well done, Ben! Your journey is just beginning, and we’re excited to see where it takes you.

🚰 Burnside Plumbing Excellence! 🚰

Our Plumbing students from St John’s College have just wrapped up an impressive project that put their skills to the test! Over the past few weeks, they’ve been hands-on, building a tap and shower setup from scratch using a “rough in” drawing, all while meeting industry standards for pressure testing.

The students dove into a range of activities, including:
- Constructing frames with drop saws and hammers
- Mastering plumbing fittings and sealing techniques
- Perfecting copper brazing for secure connections
- Pressure testing to ensure leak-free results

This project wasn’t just about technical skills—it was also a fantastic exercise in teamwork, time management, and problem-solving. By working together to hit tight deadlines, the students gained valuable experience that will serve them well in their future careers.

Meet Greg, one of our superstar trainers, stationed at our Cleveland site 🌟

Greg has a massive 25 years of experience in the shopfitting industry. He worked his way up through the ranks from being a cabinet maker/installer, to a site/factory foreman all the way through to becoming a project manager. As Greg's career progressed he found his passion in giving his years of experience to students wanting trade based pathways. In Greg's words he "loves seeing the smiles from students when they accomplish something they haven’t ever experienced before".

On weekends you can count on Greg either boating, camping or getting amongst the weekend footy. All students that have had the chance to learn from Greg have undoubtedly walked away with more knowledge/skills, but most importantly as better, happier and more inspired young individuals 🙌

Wynmet Weapon of the Week 🔨

Meet Memphis from Cleveland District State High School! Memphis completed a Certificate I in construction at our cleveland site, learning how to handle construction materials, use tools, coordinate as a team, work from heights and gain hands on experience in industry based construction activities.

Using his newly acquired skills and experience he organised work experience over the school holidays. Showcasing his hard work and great attitude, he secured a school based apprenticeship. Memphis highlights just what you can achieve with hard work, dedication and determination. We couldn't be more proud of you and cannot wait to see what the future has in sight for you🚀

Petrie Plumbing 🚀

Our plumbing students at our Petrie facility have been actively learning more and more new skills, team work and problem solving being a large part of this weeks training. We try to ensure that real world and industry based situations are replicated in all aspects of our training, preparing them for jobs within industry 🔨

Our Petrie classes have been absolutely loving it and with their hard work, are gaining more knowledge and experience in the plumbing trade.

It's Bobcat time 🚧

Last week our Cleveland District State High School construction students got to test out our new Bobcat! They learnt the basics of the Bobcat and all got the opportunity to take it for a drive around the work site.

We pride ourselves on bringing unique opportunities for those who train with us and we can safely say, this is one the students won't forget! Keep up the great work guys, we can't wait to see the projects you'll be able to complete with our new machine 🌟

A little look into our Automotive students at our Cleveland training facility. Students have learnt the workshop basics and are now progressing all the way to pulling apart engines in a collaborative team environment 🔧

At Wynmet we are about replicating what real work within the industry is like, from work environment and tasks to employer expectations, everything is systematically designed to prepare students for a job within the industry they are pursueing! Of course this takes some adaptation, but often students learn quickly and become the highest caliber of candidates when it comes to applying for a job within their chosen industry 🚀

This week, the students have learned an array of skills, including workshop safety and how to safely operate numerous hand tools. Getting real-world experience from industry professionals makes all the difference when it comes to employability 🚀

Being able to show potential employers the projects and tasks you have completed is what separates you from other candidates. So, a message for all students: make sure you take plenty of photos or save/share these posts to showcase the skills you've learnt within the course you are enrolled in 🌟

🔧Our Cleveland Crew are Working Hard 🔧

Students enrolled in our CPC10120 Certificate I in Construction are learning a wide array of practical skills within their certificate. Last week they successfully put together car ports at our cleveland training site. Not only does this teach them skills within their qualification, but it also means that more students in our automotive course can work in varying weather conditions!

These guys did an amazing job and showcased fantastic group work skills. Keep up the great work guys 🚀
