I went looking for monoculturalism.

The only country I found was North Korea.

I reckon it’s not quite the endorsement that Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party expects.

My pantry audit wasn’t enough.

So I audited the cookbook shelf.

After removing all the suspiciously multicultural material, I was left with a Margaret Fulton cookbook, a CWA cookbook, a Women’s Weekly dessert book, and Mum’s handwritten ANZAC biscuit recipe.

Modern Australia is many things.

Monocultural isn’t one of them.

Most Australians think of termites as pests.

But in the bush they’re some of our greatest recyclers - breaking down dead wood, returning nutrients to the soil, creating habitat and helping reduce fuel loads that feed bushfires.

Nature’s tiny engineers.👇🏽

When most people hear the word termite, they think of house damage, pest controllers and poison. But termites are some of the hardest-working animals on the Australian continent. They break down dead wood, recycle nutrients back into the soil, improve water infiltration, create habitat and food for c...

Pauline Hanson wants a monocultural Australia.

My pantry said: “Yeah, nah.” 🇦🇺🌏

17/06/2026

The National Press Club wasn’t just hosting Hanson today. It was platforming the politics of hate and division. One Nation wants to axe SBS, weaken the ABC, attack multiculturalism, target trans people, defund First Nations organisations and wind back climate action. That’s not reform. It’s wreckage.

If Australians put One Nation anywhere near power they’ll be jumping big time from the frying pan into the fire.

Pauline Hanson warned Australia was being “swamped by Asians”. Later she warned Australia was being “swamped by Muslims”.

Now Guardian Australia has reported on a man claiming to be a One Nation branch official who called Aboriginal people “stone age” and defended the Hi**er Youth.

A pattern is a pattern.

There’s a special category of climate denialist who skips the “Yeah but…” and goes straight to abuse.

That tells us something.

Not about climate science.
About the strength of their argument.

Anyone who raises climate change on social media will be familiar with the endless stream of "Yeah but..." objections that are thrown down like mike drops. "Yeah but ... you're not a climate scientist ... the climate has always changed" etc. Some of these claims are based on misunderstandings. Most....

If 21,289 children had been killed in Sydney, it would be the biggest story in Australian history.

In Gaza, it’s become a statistic.

Winter in Australia doesn’t feel like winter.

Antarctica is missing a France-sized area of sea ice.

Arctic sea ice just hit another record low.

Pacific Ocean temperatures are off the charts.

Time to join the dots peeps.👇🏽

Yesterday I wrote about Australia’s extraordinarily warm start to winter. The response was strong, perhaps because readers could see the evidence for themselves. Ski fields opening with little or no snow. Temperatures feel more like autumn or spring than winter. People are noticing that something ...

Winter has arrived in Australia.

At least according to the calendar.

The snowfields are open, but the snow is gone. Much of Australia has just had its warmest start to winter on record, while 2026 may become the hottest year ever measured.

We must not get distracted by culture wars and manufactured outrage. That is exactly what powerful interests are aiming for.

Physics doesn’t care about spin.
