DDJV is pleased to announce the award of two significant packages of remote housing and infrastructure works in Gunbalanya, West Arnhem Land, by the Northern Territory Government’s Department of Logistics and Infrastructure (DLI).

Together, these packages will deliver 25 new dwellings across 15 residential buildings, along with significant civil and essential services infrastructure.

The first package will deliver 15 new dwellings across six residential buildings, comprising:

1 × Type H – 4 Bedroom dwelling
2 × Type A – 3 Bedroom Duplexes (4 dwellings)
1 × Type Q – 1 Bedroom Quadplex (4 dwellings)
2 × Type A – 2 Bedroom Triplexes (6 dwellings)
This package also includes large-scale sewer and water infrastructure upgrades, detailed bulk earthworks and civil works, building pads, lot servicing, road and lot crossovers, concrete invert drains and associated infrastructure required to support the new housing.

The second package will involve the demolition of nine existing dwellings and construction of 10 new dwellings across nine residential buildings, comprising:

5 × Type AG – 4 Bedroom dwellings
3 × Type AN – 5 Bedroom dwellings
1 × Type A – 3 Bedroom Duplex (2 dwellings)
We would like to thank the Northern Territory Government and DLI for continuing to entrust DDJV with the delivery of these important works.

For us, this award is a testament to the trust we continue to build through our team, our contractors and suppliers, our systems, and our approach to delivering complex projects in remote communities.

A program of this scale in Gunbalanya comes with significant logistical and delivery challenges. Seasonal access, major infrastructure works, multiple concurrent work fronts and the coordination of people, plant and materials all require careful planning and ex*****on.

Our team is eager to take on the challenge and work through the program methodically, alongside DLI, our contractors, project partners and the Gunbalanya community, to deliver another successful project for the Northern Territory Government.

He knows construction from the ground up, has a knack for the jobs that land in the 'too hard' basket, and brings plenty of experience to where we're heading.

So, we thought it was about time you got to know him properly.

There is one thing we probably should mention...

He’s a Tottenham Hotspur supporter.

But we can’t have it all.

There’s a lot of work happening behind the scenes at DICE right now.

Last month, Roger Kahler, Principal Engineering Consultant at InterSafe, joined our team for a risk management session.

We had people in the room from across the business, from our carpenters through to senior management, working through how we identify and manage risk across our projects.

As DICE grows and takes on larger, more complex work, Ray and Lindsay are continuing to invest in the knowledge and capability that supports our teams on the ground.

Roger’s session challenged the team to look more closely at how we identify hazards with the potential for serious harm, the controls we rely on and where those controls can have limitations.

It made for some good conversations across the room, particularly with people bringing different experiences and perspectives from across the business.

For our clients, a lot of this work will never be particularly visible.

They’ll see the project taking shape on site. Behind it is the work being done to make sure our people are equipped to make good decisions and manage risk properly.

Thanks Roger and the InterSafe team for spending the time with us.

Another outstanding season from Darwin Brothers Rugby League Football Club, and a club DICE is incredibly proud to stand alongside.

Our relationship with Brothers goes back to 2013, and we've proudly supported the club as a major sponsor for the past decade.

But the reason we've stayed involved for so long goes well beyond football.

Brothers is a genuine family club - a club for everyone, with a strong Indigenous presence and deep connection to community. It's a place where people are made to feel welcome and part of something bigger.

It's also a club with an incredible history, built on generations of great players, volunteers, families and champions who have created a proud legacy both on and off the field.

Brothers finished the 2026 regular season as DABSCO Men's Premiership Minor Premiers, and as defending premiers from 2025, they've backed it up with dominant wins in their semi-finals.

Both the men's and women's sides now carry unbeaten seasons straight into the NRL NT Grand Final tomorrow (Saturday 12th September).

Everyone at DICE is proud to continue being part of the Brothers family and to be right behind them as they chase another premiership.

A small reminder that the words we say to each other matter.

To recognise R U OK? Day at DICE, we wanted to start the day by making sure every person in our team heard something positive about themselves.

Each team member was secretly matched with a colleague and asked to write them a genuine compliment. This morning, everyone arrived to find that message waiting in their inbox.

We spend a lot of time working alongside each other, but we don't always stop to tell people what we appreciate about them.

Afterwards, we came together for morning tea. With our team often spread across the office, projects and sites, it was a valuable chance to sit down together, have a conversation and simply spend some time as a team.

R U OK? Day reminds us to check in with the people around us, but also to make those conversations part of the everyday.

Sometimes telling someone they're valued is a pretty good place to start 👏

There’s usually a moment on a complex project where the original plan meets the reality of site.

That’s when experience matters.

For us, problem-solving isn’t about promising the impossible.

It’s about understanding the constraint, bringing the right people together and working through what is possible while protecting the things that shouldn’t be negotiated: safety, quality and the outcome.

Some of the best solutions we’ve delivered started with a problem that didn’t have an obvious answer.

After 20+ years, we’ve become pretty comfortable with the uncomfortable part of construction.

That’s often where the real building begins.

What can you do with 720m² inside an existing shed structure? Quite a lot, actually.

This one from the DICE archives is a good example of what can happen when you rethink the space you already have.

For Yilli Rreung Aboriginal Housing Corporation, we took the inside of an existing shed in Yarrawonga and designed a completely new workplace for more than 30 people across two levels.

Offices, meeting spaces, kitchenettes, accessible facilities, integrated technology and even a six-person lift all had to work within the existing structure.

The feature merbau staircase through the centre still has to be one of our favourite parts.

Commercial construction isn’t always about starting from scratch. Sometimes the opportunity is in giving an existing space an entirely new life.
