Hi, my name is Ethel, I am the second child in a brood of 6 have thrived in challenges. Fourteen years ago in the Philippines, I was working with a big company as a production operator and was, later on, pulled into the office to work as a secretary and admin assistant to my company’s group
of engineers. I held that post for the next 12 years. Those years have easily gone by and I felt stuck. There was no growth, not even a promotion was on site. I wanted more from life than reporting to several bosses. However, I was also grateful for the soft skills I acquired through those years. When I learned about the live-in caregiver program for Canada and uncovered a possibility to bring my family and mom after a few years, I immediately launched my application. I applied as a nanny and soon landed in Toronto in 2007. My thoughts then were to upgrade my credentials while employed as a nanny and explore where I can expand. While doing that, I also met my husband Kevin. The years went by so quickly and soon gained my permanent residency. Bittersweet moments, because not long after that, my mom passed away. Life goes on so on with my plan to upgrade. Although my plans were delayed, I was bent to pursue education. I gained my Medical Office Assistant diploma. That became my world in the next 10 years working from different medical offices working for different doctors. Currently, I work at an Integrated and Functional Medicine Clinic. Still, I wondered how to expand and grow even more. Like I thought there has to be something that I can make money of without being tied to this daily grind. Ahh, and a Plan B was so appealing. So I had to look for one. Then I found this online business. Coincidentally, when this global pandemic happened, my hours at the clinic were reduced and so my Plan B came at the very right time. Now, I feel more secure. To the question, how has your life changed after: “I have expanded so much especially my personal growth. I have conquered my fears and the emotions tied to not being good enough. My life changed knowing that I can create and bring forth the reality that I set my mind to do. In the process, I am also helping other people, making a positive impact in their lives. Aside from that, I dread talking in public, much less sharing my life with the world – public speaking in short. Then I learned that people connect with me because my story mirrored theirs. The process taught me that vulnerability is courage and so I claim courage.”
So if a Nanny like me can do it, You can do it as well and anybody Can do it!
