Where Work and Personal Lives Collide

We all like to think we can neatly separate our work life from our personal life.
The reality is, most of us can't.

When things aren't going well at home, we bring it to work. We might be distracted, frustrated, tired, or simply not operating at our best. Our teammates notice it, our customers notice it, and sometimes our performance suffers because of it.
The opposite is true as well.

A difficult day at work can follow us home.
A disagreement with a colleague, pressure from a deadline, or feeling underappreciated can impact our relationships, our mood, and even our ability to be present with the people who matter most.
The lines between work and life are often far more blurred than we'd like to admit.

I've learned that one of the most valuable skills we can develop is recognising which problems belong where. Not every work problem deserves a seat at the dinner table. Not every personal challenge needs to ride shotgun with us into the workplace.
That's easier said than done, of course.

But creating healthy boundaries gives us the opportunity to show up better in both worlds. Better at work. Better at home. Better for ourselves.

If you're carrying something that's affecting either side of that equation, don't carry it alone.
